Hello! It didn't fray so far. I only use it occasionally though as I'm using a Kate Spade bag on a daily basis. 😄 MK's are durable and water-resistant. It really depends on your usage and how you take good care of it. 😊 Got 2 MK's since last year and they're still good as bnew now. ❤️

Hi.. The bag is 16 inches wide. Yes, a 13" laptop can fit on it. This is a large tote. 😊
