I cut springs on many vws years ago in my 20s. Worked fine. Now in my late 40s. St coilovers. I’ve found are the best on mk1. Tried many !!

Everyone seems to have different opinions and experiences when it comes to cutting springs. My dad and I cut 2.5 coils all round off our rabbit and we've never had any problems, the car doesn't even bump and we changed shocks once in 9 years. Car looks fresh and I love the content broeh.

yeah but what size wheel were you using....some guys put 17z cut springs and then wonder why the ride is kak

@@pornokid333 we did that so long ago the car has been on 15s, 17s 13s and is currently in 15s and still no bounce at all... Whatsoever, maybe the rabbit springs are stiffer. Coz they were much thicker.

I've got koenig 40s it's not the greatest looking as it's not as low I would like but the ride is excellent . Gives an amazing ride... Given you have 15s on.will keep up with your channel👍

I used to be on cut springs for half a year it had no problems but my back suffered a bit

cut the front 1and 1/2 and the back 2 and 1/2 , it levels out nice , and the ride is smoother than with coil overs

How low are you looking to go with the lowering kit?? We cut my friends golf springs not so long ago 3 coils in front and 2 at the back car was way to low and every little bump in the road we were bouncing everywhere

I thought so, that’s what I didn’t want 🙈 I was going to go so low but then decided on one and a bit coils instead. But I’m probably going to go with a 60/40 drop. Hopefully the ride is okay with a proper lowering kit

Some quality content again! What kind of drop are you doing 40mm or 60mm? I also want to do a drop on my car and from what I heard 40mm is the most you should go on stock shocks.

Yeah I was thinking a 60/40 just because I want the front lower than the back. But now that you mention 40 on stock shocks I’m having second thoughts

@@jamiepotgieter Do a 40mm all round with 20mm extended mountings(R800) and you will get a 60mm drop as well as your shock lasting a lot longer.

Cutting your springs must be the worst idea to lower your Golf. Apart from it being a terrible ride it will destroy the front top shock mounts. You will regret it.

Hi Don't go to low besides all cons of bouncing, your back etc. You inner CVs is going to take a heavy punch as well, unless you have another plan for that.... Not a fan of lowering kits.
