When they restarted history the version of their love would be completely different then the one they knew the Kitana in Liu's timeline is not the Kitana he knew and the Liu in Kitana's timeline is not one she knew. It's why the line "you are my Liu Kang?" Is so important they've finally been reunited with the version of their love that they knew

​@@ultimatesavage959agreed and I think it was understandable since no one did anything to help them and everytime raiden suggest something his friends got killed like Kung lo when he suggested he stay out of MK2. Then we had sindel who massacred everyone with only cage and Sonya who survived so understandably he lost faith. To make things worse in desperate times and due to raidens previous theories and suggestions all failed that one final time where raiden was correct it's understandable why he finally had enough. After all he still didn't want to kill raiden but felt he had no choice then we saw what happened. It's a shame his corrupted self when he died didn't see that raiden did turn out correct in that final suggestion prior to liu being killed. To be fair to raiden while it's frustrating for everyone to see what happened but if someone else was in his shoes it's very difficult to make the right decisions since he just doesn't know.

But Liu Kang’s comments about the courtyard are still true, because MK11 Kitana did battle Liu in the courtyard, the difference being she was never killed by Sindel because of the timeline interference in MK11, which eventually led her to becoming Khan.

That has to be the one of the highlights and rewarding moments in all MK, for those who truly are and appreciate the lore. But at the same time, one of the saddest. After 30 years of MK and they loving each other like crazy since MK2, they finally share an intimate moment, but at the same time, Liu's face when Kitana brings "fate conspiring against them" is just truly heartbreaking. And the thing is, if Liu's timeline is the one portrayed going forward, this could very well be the first but also last intimate moment of these two as a couple.

So even though the many timelines now coexist, they no longer touch each other, meaning with no Titan Kitana around, their relationship is officially over. New Kitana is a creation by Liu Kang who is free to live and build new relationships as she doesn't share any knowledges or experiences that Titan Kitana once had with him, and it is not in Liu's nature to thrust upon her a destiny to be with him. Besides, new Kitana now knows that Liu is literally her creator, so she probably see him as an entity/god other than anything. So yeah, I can definitely see this as the end for this couple.

There wasn't an explanation...the chosen one prophecy was disregarded so she could be queen. Liu Kang’s MK 11 Aftermath battle with Shang Tsung was so powerful, it created a multiverse where every character in MK 11 could potentially be a Keeper of Time with their own version of the Hourglass. So who knows if they even realize what happened to their old loved ones. I’m just glad MK 9-11 Liu Kang and Kitana found each other again.

@@javiervasquez625 i mean who knows? we know about the NRS historic in destroying couples, but liu kang and kitana have been a thing for almost 30 years and i believe they are the public's favorite, a lot of people are waiting for them since 90s. at the same time that villains are needed in the game, it doesn't mean that they can't have a minimum of peace, even if for just one game, this kiss was a start to that or a goodbye for them, who knows. we will see

What I like about this scene is that, it shows that it does not just have to the spitting image of your partner. Even if they have identical personality, It has to be the person with whom you developed bonds and grew with. Liu here didn't go for his era's Kitana. @@Eyeyorot I don't know... NRS's slogan for MK1 was literally reimagined stories, origins and relationships with the characters we grown to. So I assume Liu's timeline will be the one continued to be portrayed in the future games, so the new Kitana should be the one in the next games. Being that, and considering Geras' arcade ending, that even though coexisting, the multiple timelines no longer touch each other, Titan Kitana is going to be out of the equation, and new Kitana is a creation by Liu Kang who is free to live and build new relationships as she doesn't share any knowledges or experiences that Titan Kitana once had with him, and it is not in Liu's nature to thrust upon her a destiny to be with him. Besides, new Kitana now knows that Liu is literally her creator, so she probably see him as an entity/god other than anything (and we can also see NRS laying the foundation for new Kitana to have other romantic relationship). definitely see this as the end for Liu and Kitana as a couple.
