Had one of these back in 2006 and what a revelation it was, we went on to buy a Mk 6 Gti and a MK 7 GTi too , but the MK 5 will always be our favorite GTi revelation car

I have had an old Golf GTI and it was so much fun, seeing this version makes me want to get one to have some FUN and go back to the old skool... that slide around the mountain with the tail coming out was just wiked. must also say that the scenery and those mountains in the background are Beautiful. enjoying the vids and cant wait for the next one ...

Great video! Was my dream car as a kid and my dad owned a Mk5 Jetta, so I remember that interior fondly. It's a shame they cost a ton here in South Africa in good nick. Now that I'm older I actually think I prefer the 90s JDM approach to hot hatches, that being small, high revving and very raw cars, like the AE82 Corolla or Honda Civic EK or EG. Don't get me wrong, big 2.0L turbos are fun and very torquey, but they don't sound like an F1 for the road hehe

RX-8 is a much more exciting drive, but this is better to use day-to-day. This was the Brecon Beacons.

@@AshrafonCars I see, I have a series 1 rx8, great car except for mpgs. Road tax is 300 if you buy pre-06. Never driven pz/r3 so don't know how they compare. Whats your tip for a good drive at brecon beacons in terms of time of day/ in summer?

@@tobythomas5079 I used to have an S1, the R3 and PZ are a nice step up. Brecon has never been busy when I've driven there so just make sure it's a nice day. It's beautiful a couple of hours before sunset.

Try an Edition 30 remapped to at least 300bhp. There's your charisma. Embarrasses a huge load of more expensive newer cars, that are probably on finance. I've annoyed an RS7 & Porsche Cayenne Turbo. Truly a fun car!

I would defo recomend a Dsg mk5 gti.. mine is a stage 2 dsg and the thing keeps up s3,cupra allday long
