Thanks for the video man Some advice for those that are doing this: When I did this job it was easier to unbolt all the hardware connecting the intake manifold to the cylinder head so that it is slightly moveable. With this extra movement it was much easier to line up the oil filter housing/oil cooler with plastic union piece on and get it connected to the water pump 👍

I just did this job. Removed the intake manifold. Carbon cleaned the intakes. I can't imagine doing this with the intake manifold installed.

Doesn’t the water pump have to be removed to do it that way?

Removing the alternator from The top is possible but just a pita. You have to remove the clip that holds the ac lines to the frame left side of the engine and that gives enough play to remove the alternator. Barely.

great Video, i have a GTI MK7, except my issue is, Oil leaking into the Coolant reservoir, and have been reading it requires an oil cooler replacement. so looks like the gasket + oil cooler for me, Question for your job, did you have to replace the entire Oil filter assembly or just the gasket?

I have same problem with my s3 mate fair bit of oil in coolant tank It’s booked on Tuesday

Mine was just an oil leak so I got away with the gasket only. Sounds like you may need the entire cooler

@@demetristavrou thank you for the replies, ended up needing a Oil fIlter assembly + cooler, oil filter assembly had warn down so bad right next to the ac compressor gasket. no more oil in the coolant now. hopefully most can get away with just a gasket replacement.

What are the toque specs for the m10’s that hold the oil filter bracket to the block?

Sorry, 9Nm. The cooler to the bracket is 5Nm. They are stretch bolts, so supposed to be replaced. Not expensive at all.
