So this is the longest summary edit I've made considering it's for both Alchemy of Souls 1 (~ 17 mins) and Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow (~13 mins). This is probably longer than expected due to the fact I was including quite a bit of the flashbacks/parallel scenes from both dramas. What a journey the main leads went through in this two-part series of Alchemy of Souls. Where there is light, there must be a shadow. Where there is a shadow, there must be light. There is no shadow without light and no light without shadow. If it’s not love, please tell me what it is. Til death do us part was not meant for these two since they still longed for each other even after death. The soul in her eyes was the reason he is in love until death with her. Tbh, this drama was so good and has very different fantasy story but this to exhausted idk why im just so exhausted watching this drama maybe because it need a really big imagination. I was amazed by the writer's imagination. I thought there will be a S3 when it came to the later part of ep9. The light and shadow were justified in the last episode. When there is light, there will be shadow. A shadow that will embrace all the darkness surrounding it. I got worried for a bit when i saw the 3 elders dying which could have given a sad ending but the writers didn't disappoint us with a good twist. This is a great drama. One that cannot be easily surpassed by future versions or sequels. Thank you for giving us a wonderful drama. The casts gave a well applauded performance. Kudos to all the actors, actresses and staff. 5 stars for Alchemy Of Souls 1 and 2!💞💞💞

I just figured out that Jang Gang was basically a surrogate for the king. Worth rewatching bc there are very few other kdramas as well-written. Vicenzo and A Korean Odyssey are also higher standards of writing.

During this AOS fever, I postponed watching it because I saw a lot of post about this and thought, that it was a heart-breaking series and I'm preparing my heart for it. So this January 2024, I decided to watch it. And dang! Season 1 is so intense that I couldn't stop watching until I saw the ending of the season 1. So heartbreaking 😭💔. Season 2 is also heart breaking, it made me cry a few times. I'm so glad that at the end, they got their happy ending. What bothered me is that, they didn't clean Naksu's reputation to the people, only the people inside the walls knew. Her name deserved to be cleared because she went through a lot since she was a child plus she was also one of the people who saved them. She was fated to save them. Overall, AOS is super nice. Worth watching. Been watching it nonstop for almost 5 days. Yep, I only slept for a few hours. Sometimes only 2 hours because I couldn't stop watching. I like the original Naksu but, I love Naksu as Mu-deok. 😢

For all those thay say that the 2nd season is inferior, you must watch BOTH seasons and see them as a continuous story, where, AMONG OTHER CHANGES, Naksu / Mu Deok / Cho Yeong / Jin Bu Yeon, went from a Solo AOE/DPS Mage Assassin into a SUPPORT/HEALER/AOE Godess, while Jang Uk went from a weakling polititian into a Solo AOE/DPS Mage Assassin

I binged both seasons back to back and I like S2 better. I didn’t find mudeok to be a character I could sympathize with or understand why Uk would fall for her so deeply. She seemed cold (sometimes cruel) and disinterested in him, except to the extent she could use him. I guess in S2 their perspectives are flipped. BY was super sweet to him so he fell for her but he was cold to her. However BY didn’t love him right away. She was resigned to staying with him to escape her mother and trying to make the best of this new situation.

I couldn’t finish season 2 because of the change, but I don’t blame the actors. I blame the writers. When doing a swap, you HAVE to include some sort of commonality to keep the audience believing that it is the same person. The problem is that the writers chose both a body/actor swap AND amnesia. So the character didn’t look like who we were familiar with or look like them either. And no, liking chicken isn’t enough. 😆 80% of the world likes chicken. Should have gone with just the one. I wouldn’t have minded a bad-B Naksu, but I couldn’t stomach the air headed chick going around constantly talking about how pretty she was. I don’t like that sort of character even in their own drama much less taking over a beloved character here.

My favorite scene was when she rocks him to sleep when he was drunk and he woke up and kissed her. My heart dropped with his movement up to her face. Pero cuando inicia su S2 me animé y me puse al día en dos días y seguí la serie hasta su capítulo final. From being the beloved daughter of a mage (Cho Yeong) to the overnight death of her entire family, to being trained and growing up as Naksu to being killed by Songrim, then soul shifting as Mudeok, her struggles to gain back her power and running wild, then resurrecting as Buyeon and all her struggles until she remembered being Naksu, to losing her body and then coming back as the most powerful priestess of Daeho. I saw one on tiktok but it's just until the end of season 1 and it felt incomplete. Hahaha. I know it's too much to ask, but maybe when you don't have something else to create and you're just thinking of what to do next you can consider this suggestion. 😁 More power to you and your editing skills! ❤️

Her character had such a sad story, growing up in a lonely, cold environment and being used as an assassin by the person who killed her father. So glad she got her happily ever after with a powerful, rich guy lol. Great FMV! Although I felt some critical scenes/lines from part 2 were missing (e.g., the part where he offers to stay in the prison with her) and instead there were too many flashbacks (we get that they're supposed to be the same person and there are parallels...) so it felt a bit all over the place. Anyway, you're very talented!
