uhm... Sam... I mean... I don't wanna be too rough on you, maybe audio seems less important to you? (it's not, trust me) but the description of B&H literally says "Good Off-Axis Sound Rejection". Which I don't think was an advantage in this case, because the voices weren't always in the "camera angle". ps: libebur128 is free for use, included in ffmpeg, and is a great software tool for audio normalization that respects the dynamic range of the original audio. pps: mkbhd studio tour yaaay

Just throw a lav mic on your talent in the future and you'll be good to go. It wasn't too bad but the level change was noticeable when Marques was moving away from the camera or had his back turned. nbd.

Favourite thing in the studio is that piece of art on that upper wall. I'm starting to take my artwork a bit more seriously so if I was in his studio I'd be up there on a ladder studying all of the lines in the piece.

Quick thing on audio, I'm not sure what shot this on - but if it was with a DSLR/mirrorless camera, I believe there are dB settings you can set to help boost the gain in-camera w/shotgun mic (I'm not a fan of lavalier mics in vlogs, but that's just me lol). Otherwise boost it in Premiere as you normally would. Just try to keep it consistent with your other videos and set a baseline! Otherwise good stuff! Stupid question, but just wanna know if you're using the audio meters in Premiere? I'd just boost the volume up as high as possible but with as minimal clipping as possible as well. I'm watching this on my laptop with headphones.

Hi Sam! I thought the video was really entertaining and was covered quite intensely, it was cool to see Marques in his natural habitat! However, the audio kind of clear, it was very soft and wasn't producing many decibels. I was listening through headphones on my laptop, with both the youtube volume up, laptop volume up, and even headphone volume all max, but it was still kind of "fuzzy" when Marques was turning away or not directly facing the microphone. Since you are confident that the audio was fine when producing and editing it, I don't know if its a youtube compression problem or if it was rendered weirdly? Just wanted you to be wary of it, so you are continuing with your crispy vids!! PS., if it doesnt show me as a subscriber, I used my school account, not this one, so it's why I won't pop up.

That Canon really seemed to have trouble hunting for focus. I've never shot with a 1DX, but I wonder if it's like my Sony where you have to adjust the focus speed settings. That is a really interesting looking microphone, but its off axis rejection didn't work well for this kind of shoot. I like the Rode micro for capturing off axis sound but not blowing up ambient noise. Good video though.
