To my eyes (and preferences) the Pixel really was the best camera by a fair bit, though I'm certain the differences would be less stark outside of a side-by-side comparison like this one. 6t seems to be great. Oneplus made each phone way better and different than the previous one. From what I understand out of the leaks 6t will have smaller notch, looking like a teardrop, wireless charging, smaller bottom bezel and maybe better camera. Oneplus 6 is great but upgrade will really depend on what you want to do

Compare the faces on C and E and please do tell me which one is clearer. And as for my second choice Id rather scroll thru insta and see B than E however I will admit they are actually pretty close, more so I just prefer the less orangey look of E, seems the colours r bit too saturated or something, just doesn't seem as realistic and looks rather smooth as apposed to sharp. But maybe you prefer a different pallet? All this aside you say you imply you have an "eye for images" (which is the most subjective statement i've ever heard, what makes you think what one person prefers another will?) so I'm guessing you value detail the most? in that case can you atleast accept that C does provide by far the highest quality image with the greatest detail? Maybe watch on 4k and on a decent 1080p monitor (as i am) and it should be obvious.

I chose B+D+E in the fire hydrant photos, B+E in the RED camera photos, B+D+E in the railroad tracks photos, C+D in the meter photos (DoF test), A+E in the skin tone test photos, C+E in the dog photos, B+E in the red android photos and C+E in the portrait-mode photos, so 1 vote for A, 3 votes for C and D, 4 votes for B and 7 votes for E. So that makes the Galaxy S9+ the best by quite a margin.

I always picked 2 cameras per picture because it often was too close to tell. Distribution between B, C and E was pretty even for me, with a slight advantage for E, while A and D weren't bad but still only got 1 nomination each. After watching the reveal, it does make sense: S9 slightly beats the competition, while Pixel and iPhone shine in different areas. OnePlus and Huawei are where you'd expect them, quite good but not 100% there yet. The most important thing I got from this: Every single camera shown would be good enough. The differences are minuscule and you should probably make your purchasing decision on different factors than photo quality.

I definitely agree. When you remove bias and do a blind test, you find that differences get massively exaggerated by the press and manufacturers themselves. It's really, really close these days.

Here's my observation of this as a photographer & editor : One Plus - Less dynamic range, the colours are balanced, saturation was good, details lacked, depth was okay but the boundaries in port. mode weren't done well. Iphone - More contrasted, warmified pictures with their exposure down and blacks down. Great portrait mode, quite intelligent in marking out the subject. Pixel - Great dynamic range, see how it didn't over expose the cloud details ( that is the feature of a good cam, no need for polarizer ) & damn the portrait mode on that is killer! Huawei - Over exposed the pics a little too much, the colours looked drained, preserved detail but not in the portrait mode, has a greenish tint to it's pictures. S9 Plus - A little over exposed pictures, colours well saturated, great lowlight performance, good dynamic range, refines the skin & erases blemishes in port. mode, good dof too! Google Pixel undoubtedly outmatches all these, some by margin & others by miles!

Ironically, even though it was clearly the best all around, the blur on the shoulder side of the jacket actually made me go quite harsh on the Pixel 2. That said, apart from that small edge detection issue (which is probably more of an unlucky exception than anything) it legit shitted on all of the other, especially in the hair department; face looked a bit oversharpened, but nothing too extreme.

Agreed. Photos need to have more light, some of them looked dark to me. I have my DSLR for serious photography, but to point and shoot from the phone when I am out and about, clearly it's B and E. Having said that, had no clue that E was the Samsung, I had a bad experience with it when I had the S7 edge. I bought it based on MKBHDs recommendation and I hated it. As for the iPhone, overpriced, but it's awesome.

At first I liked the iPhone but i slowly realized that it was way too over saturated to be "natural." Id personally rather have the ability to add saturation later if i want it and get a nice clean and dynamic picture to start with

Some of us are too lazy to edit pictures manually. I didn't want to like Apple for whatever reason lol. And still wouldn't buy their phones, just for the camera. But damn, it's like their doing your job for you and set the best possible settings in sharpness and saturation, a perfect Instagram setting.

I liked C the best for most of them. The only shot I did not enjoy as much for C was the one in low light where I thought either B or E were better

Agreed. A was too soft, B too warm, D too dark. Only E was very close, sometimes even better. But C was by far the best at creating natural, and very detailed fotos.
