not only do they hold up, but they influenced a ton of other games that have come out in the last 15 years. in fact with the passage of time, it's become easy to take these games for granted. i'm quite convinced that the Arkham trilogy is the definitive Batman experience across all media. the combination of characters (and their development), story, visuals, atmosphere, game mechanics, and the degree to which you actually do become the Batman provide an experience that i'm not sure can ever be surpassed

5 hours video damn...I remember spending closer to 500 hours on this masterpiece. One thing the sequels don't have is the brooding music and dark atmosphere. This is the darkest of the batman games. Also Mark Hamill overdelivered here...

I suppose that just goes to show how little gameplay is actually in a modern AAA game. Most of it is just busy work, hunting for all kinds of collectables. Mind you, this is one of the few games so good that I didn't mind taking my time to find everything, then do it all over again. Then do all of the challenges. But then again... This is a rare gem of a game. City came close, but this is still the original and the best.

I know Arkham City was epic in terms of the scale of the game, but there's just something about this original version that I'll always prefer. It's just so much darker and creepier, feeling a bit confined with all the baddies rather than being able to soar around the city at will. I remember being legitimately shaken a few times on my first playthrough back in the day. Having Mark Hamill's Joker as the villain certainly doesn't hurt things either, dude is such a legend.

Probably in my top ten games of all time. It was this game that got me into Batman. The gameplay and visuals (to an extent) still hold up amazingly well to this day. I would love to see proper remasters of these games for the new gen, as well as another Arkham game from Rocksteady after Suicide Squad. A new Batman built from the ground up for this gen would be INSANE.

Actually, I felt the game was too boss-heavy. Especially given that the boss battles were the weakest parts. As I see it, fighting thugs made perfect sense. Joker didn't really want to kill Batman, he just wanted to slow him down a bit. So the thugs aren't really supposed to be a challenge, just a nuisance.

It was shocking how Rocksteady and this game came out of nowhere and knocked it out of the park so hard. DF was right about this remaster though. The transition to UE4 basically turned blacks to gray.

Just got "Return To Arkham" double disc(Asylum and City) from amazon. Frikken loved playing those games Asylum runs and looks awesome on my LG G3 OLED via my PS5(disc version) with game version 1.02 after the game updated automatically. And YES it runs perfect at 60fps!! City is the same. Runs and looks awesome with game version 1.03 after the game updated automatically. And again YES it runs perfect at 60fps!!
