Man Lima was really respectable here. Even though he got 3-0'd he is playing a difficult character very smoothly, just needs a bit more polish and experience. He took Leo to last stock in two games and opened really well on him too in the earlygoing of each one.

Lima seriously feels like top player material… it’s just that Bayo is sooo lacklustre. So many times this set you see him consistently picking the right options and almost being in Leo’s head sometimes but he just can’t get anything off of it because SDI just neuters the character… and the special lag was making some situations inescapable and even making some interactions punished on hit. Not saying he’d beat Leo, but I think in the same league as the top guns I’d say (keep in mind he was a top player in Sm4sh so this isn’t new)

Man mkleo got out of so many combos so early and got hits on lima for it too because special lag lul. Bayos damage on hit is the one thing going for her and its ruined by top player sdi and matchup knowledge. Top players who actually know the matchup like Leo, marss, and mvd have shown recently that she still gets heavily outclassed, its just a matchup check

Why are tether recoveries so hard to edgeguard? Some of these look like Bayonetta for sure should have hit byleth but byleth like slips past.

It's a combination of the tether retract / fly to ledge animation being very fast, the many angles and distances that one can begin the tether from, and the generous ledge snap window/animation. Go to 1:41 and pause and go frame by frame with the period key. You can see that Lima placed the neutral air in a good place, but Leo snapped from above the ledge to hanging below the ledge in one frame

Also, the person recovering can delay the retraction to mix up the timing on the person who is trying to edgeguard

At 5:14, if you go frame by frame, it looks like Lima's up air makes direct contact with Leo, but Leo is flashing yellow at this point. There may be invul frames at the beginning frames as well as the last 5 frames before grabbing ledge

Byleth is definitely top tier. Been saying it even before the buffs but now its even more apparent Nah im no where near Leo but Ive been playing them since release and alls i can say is, when i lose it always feels like its my fault not the character's Been saying their recovery is god-tier since the beginning as they have *by far* the best reversal tools in the cast. Edgeguarding byleth over like 50% and your asking for death Its all about move selection by the player. Byleth literally cover every angle of approach and that Nair is freakin silly With the exception of Fox, The Pits, and Sephy, Byleth has the tools to cover any matchup and situation TLDR: Bylethis DEFINITELY Top Tier

Yes I agree with turn tech but also patients is key. Bayo dash attack is their most common combo starter, yet it’s very punishable on shield. Just be patient 😊

Hold the shield button, especially when she’s mashing in the air, she has no way to pressure shield. Avoid mashing because of witch time and learn SDI
