I got into this whole thing as a hobbyist trying to maintain my game collection and that's something I've noticed about the cheaper tools - the thermostats are just bullshit, turn them up. I don't know whether it's the thermal properties of the metal or whether the temp gauges are just lying, but I always have to crank them. One thing I've learned with my iron + wick, and with having scorched a few boards, is that I absolutely hate desoldering ;-) Looking to find better tools, so thanks for this vid.

This is a Chinese clone of the well-known Goot desoldering gun. Get and use the right size (diameter) tip. And always clean out the tip when finished. Oxidized solder in the tip will be very hard to remove. Thanks for the video.

You must chose correct diameter tips for large paths .Also You must press more short time to vacuum trigger (1 -1,5 second is enought)

Feels like this was designed for 220/240v and it just barely running at 110v, the sound of the pump sounds a lot quieter than when watching a review by someone in the EU or UK. I think a lot of these are designed for factory use in China and the thinking is ... well why not sell it on the open market? No redesign required since it's very simple, just stick on the appropriate regional plug. It'll run safely on a lower voltage, just cooler and weaker, probably why you had to crank up the temp.

Why bother redesign just for the us? It's pointless when like literally every non north America country uses 240v

The Stainless Steel tip on those doesn’t conduct heat nearly as well as a soldering iron’s copper tip, therefore you need the extra temperature to melt the solder.

For around the same price you can buy a (made in China) Aoyue 474 soldering station. The quality of the Aoyue stations is a actually very good. Well built and performing stations.

Very cool. That thing looks like a straight-up copy of the Hakko, but with a much nicer stand. I have the Hakko and it's a dream to use, but that thing looks pretty great.

1. It is required to wet lead-free solder on modern boards with ordinary lead + flux 2. choose the size of the nozzle of the tin pump according to the size of the the contact 3. hold the gun from the bottom and the board from the top so that the tin pump does not pull the solder out of the hole of the board, and the solder itself slides down into the nozzle. 4. polygons with high heat capacity require a longer waiting time for heating by nozzle of desoldering gun 5. it is better to connect the pump motor to an external power source (and adjust the voltage and current on the motor), because the internal power supply of the motor on a triac from 230v is complete nonsense

If add some new solder to the joints you're sucking, this will be easily 100% more effective.

trying to suck solder out of a big ground plane is a hassle. you can try pre heating the entire board with hot air, not burning anything of course. then after a minute or so with some heat, youll get nice results

@@treadmillrepair754 Negative, replacement parts go through Hakko and are prohibitively expensive - they also don’t sell the actual replacement gun. The Proskit SS-331 is superior in terms of replacement parts, repairability, and price.

I bought one of this desoldering guns maybe 6 years ago, I try to use maybe two times before to return to the box, I don't like the nozzle, is imposible to tin the tip, mine comes with steel tube inside. I am thinking to remove the steel tube and change for a PCB copper eyelet. My primary desoldering gun is a Hakko 808, I love it, more than 10 years without any problem. Two weeks ago I bought one Yihua 948, works very well after do,a minor mod in the collector spring inside the chamber. Best Regards.
