Cutey Styles I'm not a hater but 1D is too "cute" for me. I find their music annoying "What makes you beautiful" irritates my brain. I only thought one song of theirs wasn't too bad and pop all boy bands are so 90's to me. "Jack left Diane 30 years ago" That line goes fucking hard when you understand it. For those who don't know, it's a reference to the 1982 John Mellencamp song "Jack & Diane", about two American kids who fall in love and grow up together. The point of this song is how much the American lifestyle has changed since then, largely in a negative way. One of the changes that has happened over the last 30 years is that divorce rates have gone up significantly (Almost 50% of marriages end in divorce nowadays). It's sad, really.

That's the point. They aren't following the American Dream which includes mathematicians and scientists. Their doing what they want for themselves.

Well what about people who want to be scientists or mathematicians? And since when is the American Dream including just scientists? Honestly, I thinl the majority of Americans have and continue to aspire to work in the Arts. If that is actually what this song is about, intended to show that American people shouldn't go after STEM careers or that people who "want for themselves" a job in engineering are somehow less American than others, then I revoke my earlier statement about liking this song. I personally do not believe it is about that but you evidently do and and I invite you to explain your reasoning behind that.
