Very nicely demonstrated Dave. A really clear and easy to follow video.

Yep ml and s .. fab. I bought a "used" 3000 but it turned up brand new. Screens all with original plastic on them Great company.

I have just bought the FTM500 from ML&S which also has the S-DX button. All it seems to do on mine is increase the displayed signal strength by 2 S points. It seems to make no difference at all to the received audio. I’ll need to dig in to the manual to see if there are some other settings I need to look at. The difference it makes on the videos I’ve watched on these much cheaper radios is impressive.

On the FTM500 it is more like a pre-amp. I have a feeling we will see this button morph even further in future.
@JackCumming16 күн бұрын
@@wonderingworld119 Indeed - although on mine it makes absolutely no difference to the sound at all, in volume or clarity. I have an external BHI box which does all the DSP filtering and EQing, so I don't really need it in the radio. However, the FTM500 is about 3 to 4 S points better on receive than the 2980 it replaced in my shack, so I'm not too worried.

Yeah, the S-DX button on the FTM-500 doesn't appear to do much really. It's a shame it's not the same DSP effect that these two new radios have.

Looking fwd to that 85W big boy. Amazed that the SDX button made as much difference as it did even on "good" signals!

If you hadn't told me I'd have thought the ftim 3165 was the ftm 7250 maybe no noise reduction but 2 and 70 plus c4fm and wires x no longer made unfortunately

Does this mean that these 3 radios come with the SPU-1 module preinstalled at no extra cost? It wasn't clear in the previous information from Yaesu.

Are you putting out an open day video guys?
@Martin_Lynch7 күн бұрын
Absolutely! The Guv’nor himself is on camera with a quick Open Day walk-around near the end of this video 😊

@@Martin_Lynch Fantastic! It looks like you all had an amazing day, wished I could have made it. I must try harder next year.

Thanks for the video. That SDX button certainly does a great job on killing the background hiss.

Volmet on 145.625Mhz which might be a repeater output in that area!?
@PaulTaylor15 күн бұрын
I guess that's why they try to coordinate the frequencies of the repeaters. I'm surprised though - isn't amateur radio the primary user of the 2m band?
@krishnanrs60115 күн бұрын
@PaulTaylor1 yup, unless someone piped it on to 2m. Anyone from that area know?

Don't like the SDX, it cuts out noise but yoou can hear the digitising artefacts, it sounds like a robot.
@VTXHobbies7 күн бұрын
Supposedly you can use the super dx function without the ASP module installed which should still improve sensitivity without the ASP module doing the cringy noise canceling.
