Cap Anson is the GOAT. Held the RBI title for 53 years, still in the top 5 to this day, and did it during the dead ball era.

Well he played one of the longest careers ever so that means even though it was the dead ball era, he player for 27 years so he would’ve had a lot

@@Patricklovesbaseball That is true but you also have to consider the number of games played in those early years. For the first 13 years of his career, he never played in a hundred games. I like to compare number of games when looking at lifetime states. Anson had 2075 RBIs in 2524 games while Hank Aaron had 2297 RBIs in 3298 games. It took Aaron roughly 750 more games to amass approximately 220 more RBIs.

MLB does not count RBI stats pre-1920 (wasn't an official stat until then)

Man i had never even heard of Anson until these videos started popping up. None of the guys pre 1900 were ever mentioned a lot tbh. one of these days when i’m bored i’ll have to read up about them. Edit: Okay i just read his wiki. Apparently he was a huge proponent of segregation in baseball. So that’s probably why he doesn’t get talked about as one of the greats a whole lot. MLB probably wants people to forget about all that stuff. W/e though. So dude was probably racist 130 years ago when like 90% of the american population was also still racist af. don’t see why that means we gotta play dumb and pretend like he didn’t exist.

Now since Longoria retired, Freddie Freeman is the active RBI leader with 1,231. No one will even get close to the lowest spot at the end of the video.

Wow! Al Kaline never cracks either this or the home run list.
@robertanderson2898 Жыл бұрын
He ended in the high 1500s, the other players in his time and beforehand prevented him from making those lists, he ended up with 'only' 399 Homers, he wasn't really anywhere near that list. Mickey Mantle had fewer RBI than Kaline, doesn't appear either.

He retired with 1,509, not enough to make an appearance on the list at the time. He was never really a huge RBI guy except for a few seasons. Only surpassed 100 four times.

This record could've been Gehrig's :(

A-Rod could've been tops had he not been suspended and missed all that other time. Steroids or not. Both Homers and RBI. Probably Runs Scored too. Will Albert Pujols be the last player to knock in over 2,000 runs? Looks like it, for quite a long time. Now that Cabrera and Cruz have retired, the active leader moves all the way down to Evan Longoria, who has 1,159. 😮
