The year Big Mac broke Maris record I heard all the buzz about his batting practice HR's. So when the Cards came to Arizona I made sure I was there. The stadium was half full in BP. When Mac stepped into the cage the crowd went nuts. That dude proceeded to put on a absolute display. One of the balls He hit went out of the advertisement openings at Bank One Ballpark. No joke, that dude hit a ball out of the stadium. It was in May so the stadium was fully open. When the ball flew through that opening myself and the fans roared! It was one of the coolest things I've ever seen in Baseball. The next day He hit one off the scoreboard in Center. The advertisement opening was the one in Left Center.

They need to go back to this style of home run Derby. It is a much faster Pace than the 10 out home run Derby but it still allows you to marvel at the massive home run distances. The way it is now, it's literally just pitch after pitch after flick of the wrist after flick of the wrist and camera change after camera change. You have no time to actually see how far the ball went and that's half the fun of the home run Derby. Watching larger-than-life players hit 480 ft home runs. It won't be quite as exciting making them wait until the ball hits the ground, but it will slow down the Derby enough to where we can still marvel and how far the ball is going. Because the way it is now it's just too fast to process and enjoy
