I remember watching that Shohei game live (there was nothing else on TV that day and I’m a Braves fan) before he became a huge star. I watched him pitch earlier in the game, then I remember yelling in excitement when he hit that HR. It was his 2nd of the season and he would hit way more that same season. Just the sound of his hit was like a gunshot. Before I clicked this video I KNEW this clip had to be in here.

I’m saying this was his 2nd HR of the season. Nobody would have thought he would hit 46 HR that season. I had never heard of him before his home runs started flowing in. That’s what I meant by before he was a star.

I think the crack has more to do with the broadcast microphones than the actual sound…I’m sure most hard hit balls sound like these, unless hit on the sweet spot (which is quieter).
