It is his job actually, succumbing to panic is how you make mistakes; so to remain calm in the face of that is key to him being able to catch. It is badass still, just is how he is a badass.

9:30 when I was little, in machine pitch baseball at my parks and rec department, I somehow managed to do this. Caught the edge of the ball perfectly and tore the stitches right off. I still have the ball somewhere in storage in my house.

vjm3, MLB now has a rule because of this. An ambidextrous pitcher must declare if he is going to pitch right or left handed, and cannot change during the at bat. The batter then chooses his side.

@@Roman-kl3wk Michael Morse hit a homerun, but the Umpire originally called it in play and that he was out at the first base, so after review they realised it was actually a homerun and made him touch all the plates to complete the run, but also made him swing the bat I guess just to make sure all the motions were followed (???) Idk about that part. They just wanted him to touch all the bases for the homerun to count.

What the hell is that damn game anyway. I didn't grow up in America and i don't get anything. I have seen several baseball videos now and I still don't understand any of the rules. Why do they start to play catch all of the sudden? Why does the guy with the bat wear head protection and the guy throwing the ball, who (i'd think) is way more in danger because he is directly in front of the bat guy, not? Why are the spectators not protected? In football (or as you call it: soccer) the organizers are worried about the well being of the spectators eventhough the ball is a very light one and in baseball, where the ball is hard as a brick, the spectators seem completely unprotected. This game is a mystery to me.

@@ronaldms5971 Yeah but the odds of knowing the baseball rules if you are not from the states are really low because the US have pretty much their own ecosystem of sports. I am from germany and i don't know a single soul that watches american football, basketball or baseball regularly. But in europe (and almost every other place on earth) people go crazy for soccer instead.

Julian Morales-Silva he threw it so fast that it must have hit the mask at angle to create a spark. Since the mask is metal it's easier to do. That's my guess anyways.

@@bmsvg7356 yeah in the US you usually get arrested if you run on the field, and like they said they normally dont even show it on TV, they only showed it cause the player tripped him (they think if they show it, it encourages more people to do it just to end up on TV)

There really should be a rule where if the player(s) mess up the running order (just like missing a base), then depending on how they mess up there should some kind of penalty. It's MLB after all.

The catchers face mask is steel so when a ball comes at about 96mph it will cause enough friction and heat to cause a spark
