in my opinion, the 2011 NLDS Game 5 was the darkest moment in their history. You're the best team in baseball, a game away from going to the NLCS, down 1-0 in the bottom of the 9th. Ryan Howard hits a ground ball out to eliminate the Phils, and tears his ACL. And in that moment, as Ryan Howard falls to the ground in pain, and the Cardinals celebrating in front of all the Phillies fans, you just knew that it was the end of arguably the greatest era in Phillies history. I never have gotten over that game to this day.

MY FIRST PHILLIES GAME WAS APRIL 23,1961 WHEN ART MAHAFFY STRUCK OUT 17 CUBS AT CONNIE MACK STADIUM. I ATTENDED THE LAST GAME AT CONNIE MACK STADIUM ON THURSDAY,OCTOBER 1,1970 WHEN THE PHILLIES BEAT THE EXPOS 2-1 WHEN OSCAR GAMBLE DROVE IN TIM MC CARVER WITH THE WINNING RUN. I ALSO ATTENDED THE FIRST GAME EVER PLAYED AT THE VET WHEN THE PHILLIES BEAT THE EXPOS 4-1 LARRY BOWA GOT THE FIRST HIT AT THE VET,DON MONEY HIT THE FIRST HOMER AND BOOTS DAY OF THE EXPOS WAS THE FIRST BATTER. JIM BUNNING WON THE GAME. THE BIGGEST THRILL OF MY 57 YEARS AS A PHILLIES FAN HAPPENED ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 21, 1980 AT 11:29 P.M. WHEN THE PHILLIES WON THEIR FIRST WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP. I SHALL NEVER FORGET THAT!

ROBERT STACK That's awesome! My Grandpop worked at Connie Mack Stadium, my Dad met all the old National League greats. The best Phils game Ive been to so far (not in a baseball sense) was when they killed Osama Bin Laden, I was third row behind the Phils dugout. The best game (in a baseball sense) was seeing Doc get his 20th win in 2010. Theyre lookin pretty good so far this year, 6 straight. Hopefully it is something to build on.

Great collection of highlights. Impossible to get everything but this an excellent sampling. I love that Luzinski plating Rose is in here, the Manny Trillo triple, the Vukovich HR, the Dykstra HR vs. Atlanta, the Schilling complete game in 93 WS... Perhaps the one major event missed is the Mike Schmidt home run in Montreal in the top of the 10th on the second-to-last day of the 1980 season to seal the Division. Also Rose catching the Boone drop in 80 WS (bases were loaded with one out in the 9th at the time). Is there anything more satisfying to watch than the Matt Stairs HR? Two great Carlos Ruiz plays in here - the tag on the end of the Utley play in the WS, and the last out of the Halladay no-no against the Reds in the playoffs. GREAT job. Excellent collection.

Get emotional every time I watch that 2008 team pile on top of each other in front of the mound. That team was unstoppable, the best part was a lot of that core came up in the minors together. The Phillies built that championship team pretty much home homegrown.

1979: Del Unser's 3 run pinch hit HR in the bottom of the 9th to win the game 6-5 after trailing 5-1 entering the 9th was a great game too. It was also the third consecutive HR as a pinch hitter by Del Unser. 3 HR's in his last 3 pinch hit AB's. Harry Kalas went nuts!

Mike Schmidt 1980 homer number 48 against Montreal Expos 3. Tug Mcgraw 1980 same game vs Montreal 4. Garry Maddox catches final out vs Houston Astros 1980 game 5 NLCS, 5. Bob Dernier inside the park home run 1989 vs San Francisco Giants, 6. Mitch Williams basehit at 4:40am vs San Diego Padres 1993, 7. Terry Mulholland 1990 first no hitter vs Giants at the vet and 8. Tommy Greene no hitter 1991 vs Expos
@bigandtallreturn8 жыл бұрын
A few other ideas for a sequel besides what Gary already mentioned: the final outs of the Tommy Greene and Kevin Millwood no hitters, Von Hayes hitting 2 home runs in one inning, the last out of the NL East clinching game from 1993, Kim Batiste's walk off single from Game 1 of the '93 NLCS, Pete Rose breaking Stan Musiel's NL hits record
@neilsmith32492 жыл бұрын
