i agree with you my friend.. but idk why he can't play short his whole career.. an athlete with his ability won't slow down or lose a step til mid 30s and even then he will be better than 75-85% of shortstops in the league.. it's blatantly obvious he's not comfortable, if it's a must do, let him do it in the off season when he has time and not just throw him off the deep end.. i think it's more of a stacked infield so they're trying to pack everyone in and if they're not careful they're going to do more harm to tatis than the benefit you receive from squeezing everyone in.. I was a high level player at infield my whole life growing up and I have speed, the agility, can cover ground quick, can lay out horizontally and snag balls, but when that ball is flying through the air and spinning, if you're not used to fielding out there, the tiniest mistake and you'll misjudge it so easily.. as an infielder I have enormous respect for outfielders, especially the good ones, I feel like people think it's the easiest position, until they get completely exposed..

@@retro34 .....Baseball was designed (over 175 yrs. ago) to have nine people play in the field and those same 9 players to get a turn or an opportunity to have an at bat. @carneasuhdude68233 жыл бұрын
They play the shift for left handed hitters. Basically, really smart dudes that handle analyzing player stats of each of the opposing players and whatnot to determine the percentage of contacted balls hit to either the left, right or center of the field. So, the batter that was due up was a lefty and seeing how lefties are very commonly averaged to hit to right field, they pull either the SS or third baseman to play shallow right. In most cases it’s going to be manny, because he’s got a rocket arm and can cover a lot of ground quickly and can assist in case the ball gets hit between first and second. Plus if a runner is at first, Manny fielding the ball in shallow right can keep the runner at second instead of taking third. It’s also helpful when a runner is at first because the 1st baseman has to stay close to the bag in case of a pickoff. They do the same thing with right handed hitters too, the A’s do it quite a bit
