The crazy thing is that T.J. Friedl (#29), after he got hit in the knee with the baseball, was the runner on 2nd for the short single to right. So he ran on that knee from 2nd to score on his “Superman” slide into home. So more than Superman he deserves the Iron Man Award for that cycle.

It was, but the ump was awful for both teams tonight. It wasn’t just that call he messed up. He called a really low ball a strike on Elly earlier when he should have gotten a walk.

This is an example of why I’d rather see umpires expand the zone by a couple inches then not call a borderline strike. Calls like that almost single-handedly ruin games

You win some, you lose some. If MLB doesn't move to full electronic pitch calling, it's at least a good argument for why managers should be allowed to challenge a couple called balls/strikes each game. It's confirmed almost immediately, so it only adds about 20-30 seconds of time to the game for each challenge.

What's the deal with the free runner? It seems like it can be either a bench pinch runner, the last person to have gotten out, or the person who would have been up first. Pinch Runner feels most logical and least disruptive to the statistics.
