Guardians had a six week stretch where they played no better than .400 baseball, and were shut out at least four times. After this win, they now own the best record in baseball.

I mean record means nothing after the regular season is over. It's the post season that matters. if your team qualifies. Last year none of the top seeds made it to the WS. It was a 6th seed and a 5th seed. It's anyone's game, don't like to see sports fans or fans of my own favorite team get cocky just over halfway through the season.

Dude in game 2 against Cleveland, in the 2nd inning when their 9 hole hitter hit the sac fly to Santander, if Adley lets that ball travel deeper, he could have caught it and tagged the runner Fry at the same time and he would have been out. The throw beat him, but Adley reached out and stopped it so he could swipe for the tag. That throw was perfect. Should have been an inning ending double play that would have kept them to 1 run despite having the bases loaded with 1 out.

There are a decent amount of switch-hitting ball players currently in the game. However most of them aren't very good. Jose Ramirez is one of the best switch-hitting players in todays game. Who else is good currently? I follow baseball but not enough to know every player in MLB. Now, ask me anything about boxing and I can tell you the entire history of the "sweet science."

Brandon Hyde is a real problem man. I keep trying to look past and generally avoid it, but he makes it so hard for me to do that for real. In this first game, the bullpen usage, it’s just like he has no consciousness for how to manage a bullpen. Most of this bullpen’s struggles are solely due to terrible usage by Hyde and not bc of the pitchers, and he’s going to wind up ending our season in October bc it’s obviously not going to stop happening. I don’t see him getting better at something he’s been doing very poorly for 5+ seasons now. This bullpen is so much better than it appears to be and it’s beyond frustrating. It’s a shame bc Buck Showalter is ultra, Uber-ideal for this type of club. His two best assets as a manager are bullpen management and getting prospects to perform at their potential during the AAA to big league transition/adjustment period. If Hyde would just focus on 3 batters at a time with the bullpen they’d be so much more effective. He leaves guys out there way too long and he’s bad at matching up with who he brings in most of the time. Perez is not a lefty specialist, Webb is better against lefty’s, and Webb/Akin show you if they have it or not in their first batter faced, but he constantly leaves them out there long enough to give up the big inning when they don’t have it and pulled too soon when they do have it. Cano should be used against the better hitters/power hitters every time he pitches bc his sinker will almost never get hit out. Kimbrel should always face the 5/6-9 hitters bc even when he’s not going great he will get through a clean inning in that situation. Dominguez and Soto should be the 7th and 8th with a lead in a close game. Suarez should get a shot at closing and be limited to 1 inning every time.

If a guy allows two hits and a bunt hit in his first 3 batters, in what universe is it a good idea to let him face THREE MORE HITTERS?!?!?! This is truly unreal. Now you got the bases loaded 1 out for Ramirez. And we are going to bring in Webb instead of Cano who has a super high ground ball rate, but at least doesn’t give up the long ball whereas Webb is DEFINITELY susceptible to the long ball. He gave up one just last night to a much worse hitter than Ramirez. This is why we never have comeback wins, the offense knows if we are already losing and our bullpen is in the game it’s just going to get worse and it’s not bc of the pitchers. It’s the fking manager. After the bunt, if you bring in Cano, and he’s on, he’s got the #9 hitter for the double play ball which Soto almost got so imagine what it would have looked like on Cano’s sinker.

The Orioles are down five pitchers, one who was fourth in CY voting, one who threw a no-hitter and Bautista who all have made past all-star teams, and two infielders, Westburg and Jorge Mateo, two of the best at fielding their positions. The O's played a utility player at third and a rookie with about 50 major league at bats. Their pitcher literally walked off the plane several hours before starting his first game with his new team. The season is but two-thirds over and the crapshoot MLB post-season is after that.

Some nine pitches were off the plate and called strikes, so your argument has some merit. After watching the highlights I see why, however, the Orioles called up Mayo today. Someone bigger and better than Urias, who I like, gets the liner in the first and doesn't back away from the hot potato in the third. That was five runs from a gold glove third baseman.

Why don’t the outfielders charge the fly balls? It’s seems they let a lot take a one bounce, they don’t run in, they could easily catch these.

2 reasons: what they see from their angle is very different than what we see from the camera behind home; and there's a risk-reward relationship between going balls to the wall to catch the ball and letting it get past you for extra bases.
