Cabrera throws the ball to the Yankees dugout (disrespectful) and Boone throws it to the Jays dugout (take that, jerk). Gibson calls out Wells on a ball BELOW the knees so he can punish Boone and then tosses HIM. Then calls ANOTHER very low ball to Stanton a strike and tosses the pitching coach. Gibson has NO BUSINESS being an umpire if he is only going to act like a child every time his feathers get ruffled. I thought we got rid of Angel Hernandez, finally, but here he is calling himself Gibson.

THIS WAS OUR ANALYSIS: Berrios and Rodon on the bump here this morning and although both are capable of good outings they are both also prone to blowups. We have seen multiple starts from both these guys this year where they will give up 4-5 runs by themselves before ever even turning it over to the bullpen. Both teams are swinging the bats well especially the yankees that have lit up right handed pitching the last two weeks to the tune of a .301 average, a .941 OPS and a double digit barrel rate. The Blue jays have been no slouches themselves. The Yankees bullpen has been okay not great not awful but the Blue jays bullpen has been a disgrace over the last couple weeks with a 6.70 ERA and a 1.74 WHIP. Hot temperatures with the breeze blowing out today expect some fireworks here

Has the MLB ever tried to limit request for intentional walks? Like for example, a team can only intentionally walk a player once (or maybe twice) per game. I suppose they could just throw four balls “unintentionally” to get around that. It just seems so uncompetitive. That’s like any professional sports team having the ability to tell the best player on the opposing team they’re not allowed to play.
@stevekim17552 ай бұрын
I see your point but I wouldn't compare intentional walks to not allowing the best opposing player to play because you are putting him on the base which drastically increases the probability of scoring a run against you when you have about 70% of getting him out. Similary in basketball you can double or triple team the best opposing player but that opens up the risk of freeing up other players whose shooting % goes up drastically from no or limited defense. It is what it is and it's part of the game.
@tedunguent1562 ай бұрын
That was one of the WORST rules changes. Being able to just TELL the opposing batter to take a base without having to THROW four balls. Terrible rule.
@michaelmarkowski2042 ай бұрын
Were Yankee fans complaining when Barry Bonds was intentionally walked a huge amount during his career? Yeah he was likely juiced to the hilt, but it's a way to neutralize potential damage by putting a guy on base. BTW, Judge only has 11 IBB so far this year prior to this game and a career high of 19 during the entire 2022 season, so it's not like it's an epidemic across the league.

Starting with their improbable comeback win at Fenway in game 2 of their series on 7/27, The Yankees appear to have regained some of their mojo back that contributed to a 50-22 start. However the bullpen, tremendous in this game is still inconsistent, particularly Clay Holmes, and their no. 1 starter doesn't look close to 100%. With 2 full months remaining the Yanks' have plenty of time to keep improving while putting Baltimore in the rear view mirror.

I’ve said that the Yankees have been one of the worst officiated teams in the league, but this is just ridiculous. First there was that Rays game where Edwin Moscoso made 7 incorrect strike calls in one inning and gift wrapped the win to the Rays, then there was the third game against the Mets where the home plate umpire made 24 incorrect calls(21 of them were against the Yankees, 16 incorrect strike calls and 5 incorrect ball calls), and now this where multiple pitches at high ankle height were called strikes
