MLC2308 Significance of Observing Sīla - [from Mahāparinibbāna Sutta]

Today many stay away from religion, seeing it to be outdated, gripped by mythology proven to be unfounded by science, astronomy, etc. Overzealous religionists in a perverse approach have incited and waged violence and war against other sects and religions in the name of God. Many religionists seen in temples are only involved in rites and rituals without knowing the true essence of their religion. This series of talks address the fundamental issue of why religion is necessary for us.
