As a fan of 3D printed molds I have to stress that the Braskem example wasn't the best. I'd rather use laser cutting for that. Design to finished products in one day.

Laser cutting is a great option! Since Braskem didn’t have a laser cutter on hand, they were restricted to the tools they had available to them. I guess they’re lucky they had a Form 3 and injection molding machine handy! Tooling costs can vary a lot depending on size and complexity, but with this method you can control both cost and lead time with no cost penalty for complexity in the mold geometry. Every ROI will be different depending on your current situation and cost structure.

No, the cost of materials is only one component of project costs, but as you see in the video some of those costs can be prohibitive using traditional manufacturing methods.
