CRACKING JOB, mate!! Always a fan of the 4-engine props... only time I got to fly on an aircraft like this (besides a B-17) was up in Alaska. It was on a DC-6 but the #3 engine ran too rough and we had to gate-return...

Retired Delta. Awesome. I flew on these back in the day [passenger]. "Golden Crown DC7" Loved watching those radials fire [literally] up. Ramp stood by with huge CO2 bottles. Chatting with retired Delta pilot yesterday about this delivery. Fond memories.

Golden Crown is the correct name. The term Royal was used with the jet aircraft.

@@poppiarlin5612 You are exactly correct. I edited my post to reflect the facts.

So great. My Mom was hired in 1956 to be a stewardess for Delta. She passed away in 2015. When she retired in 2000 she had flown with Delta for 30 years. When my parents were married she had to quit but was rehired in 1973.

As a youngster I made many trips onboard The Company's -7's. It was kind of sad when they were phased out. And then, there was Atlanta Skylarks. The folks were members and I made a few trips with them. "Mystery Dinner Flights". The "real" mystery is how they managed to keep the bird airworthy. ATL Fire/Rescue used to follow it out for take offs, such was its reputation for blowing jugs. Nobody onboard cared. The adults got fueled-up at the reception in the old Company hanger before departure. Used to sit on the ramp behind the old GO between trips and play birdhouse. Wow, a long time ago.
