I've this watch for over 5 months and coming from the VivoActive 4, it's a HUGE upgrade, battery life is freaking insane, super accurate, great display and not laggy like many other watches considering battery life. I do walk a lot as part of my daily routine and also practice weightlifting which i have to say, accurate and usable data. The VivoActive was a good watch and lasted 3 years of every single day usage and instead of selling it, i gifted to my brother. I'll not change the Venu 3 until there's a good overall watch in the market, ideally from Garmin :).

I've had this watch for almost three months. Initially, the battery was consumed every two weeks during the first month and a half, but since then, I've been charging my watch every five days. I'm not sure what changed, and it's good to mention that I'm not using the Display Always On feature cause it will drain my battery faster. I hope I can fix it and repost the issue here so people having the same issue know what to look for. Still a good watch tho,

Love watching these sorts of videos, I've always wanted a smart watch and thought it would be best to stick with brands i know, I have an s24 ultra so I've been looking into the samsung watch ultra but the battery life sucks for a so called ultra device. After scrolling video after video, I have come across yours, and this has helped me massively with a decision that garmin is the way to go. But what garmin is actually the best for calls, messages, WhatsApp, and battery life? Is it this venu 3, or is there a better one to be had?
@mlegrandАй бұрын
This Venu is probably their smartest smart watch. I will say that compared to a Samsung watch, you might find it still lacks in the ‘smarts’ department. Garmins tend to focus on training and recovery metrics. I think there will be things you’ll love and things you’ll miss. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. @mlegrand thank you for the reply. Not many seem to take the time to do that. Battery life and being able to reply to text messages or WhatsApp on a watch would be a priority for me, as for fitness features I've just started getting back into that so for now I would only need the basics on that front, maybe things like sleep tracking, step counting, heart rate monitor. mentally, I need to go back into a good head space and focus on something new, so I think this is a good place to start.

Garmin Venu 3s has a lot of miscounting on Floor Climb. One floor should be walking down one floor and back up. About 3 meters down and back up. When I use the watch sometimes it doesn't read anything. If the watch counts something, I usually have to go 3 floors for the watch to count one floor. It sometimes gets a little bit better if I stop at each floor for 20 seconds and wait for the altimeter to detect the change, but even that does not do the trick most of the time. The count should be based on the Barometer sensor. Either the Barometer is very poor or at least far too slow to detect changes. No matter if I do Calibration with GPS or Manually, the sensor is completely useless for the activity called "Floor Climb". I was told by the service person to clean the sensor with water, soap and/or alcohol and I have done that many times. The sensor is simply not usable for counting heights, although it should be done according to the instructions and what the service providers of the watch claim.

There was a screaming deal on the Epix. It was something like 399. But I think the price has gone back up now. Or at least that's what I'm seeing. It could go down again for the holidays. 🤷♂️ If you are still seeing it discounted, it's a great option. It's a little thicker and a little nicer looking in my opinion. It was also Garmin's top of the line watch at the time. So it'll basically do everything other than have a mic and speaker like the Venu 3.
@tomparry100Ай бұрын
@@mlegrand thanks for the help! Yes there’s another deal on here in the UK for £325. It is the 2nd gen standard (not pro). The Venu 3 is £400 or more. So I’m guessing the Epix is the better option given I’m not bothered about the speaker.

I have a Venu 2s. Most important features to me are various fitness training modules, particulatly lap swimming, and sleep monitoring, which I THINK it struggles with because I have a pacemaker for Bradycardia, so the PM keeps my resting heart rate from falling below 60. I am guessing the Garmin gets confused between my sleep and simply being very still. Does the Venu 3 have a different heart monitoring feature than the 2s, which may track my sleep better? And what Garmin watch can track more than only laps if I want to do multiple swim laps kicking only? I don't need or want speakers or a microphone. Would you know best Garmin to recommend for overall fitness monitoring? At 70, I'm very active but not a competitor--indoor rowing, indoor biking, outdoor recumbent triking, kayaking, hiking, walking. I don't bother trying to get music on my watch, and absolutely don't want to talk or send messages with my watch. My husband, who doesn't care for or understand much about technology, wears my previous Vivoactive 2s. He's yet to figure out much on it other than steps and HR. 😊 We're thinking the vivo isn't doing a very good job of tracking his HR ... or he may be showing signs of needing a pacemaker. He's 77. Lord have mercy. Oh, and like everyone else, I LOVED the DCrainmaker part of your video. Very hilarious. 😂

Does this have on-water rowing (not indoor)? Or would one need to use swimming or running for a rowing course?
@mlegrand2 ай бұрын
Yes, it has on water rowing and indoor rowing. I would use it but you could also use it in a running or walking mode because it'll use GPS to track your workout. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍

Thank you! Does the Venu 3 or 3S have a rotating bezel? If it doesn't, can you recommend some that do? I'm needing to upgrade my Samsung watch soon and I use the bezel all the time.

It doesn’t and I can’t really think of one that does have that feature. 🤔

@@mlegrand thank you. I couldn't get a definitive answer until now. Maybe someone will come back with one. 🤞🏻

I never hear anyone talk about the training status nog being on the Venu 3. It isn't on the Venu 3 but is on some other models. I feel kinda ripped off by not having this for quite a high price.

I agree. It seems super weird to see where Garmin puts Training Status. It’s on the 265 but not 255. Why? 🤷🏻♂️

I want to buy a garmin venu 3. I train in the gym and am interested in several things. does when i wake up give me how i can feel and train during the day. and how well does it measure recovery time after a gym workout?
@mlegrand6 ай бұрын
I think most of the recovery metrics are for biking and running. I don’t know if it would use the stress score from gym workouts to calculate recovery. That might be a question for Garmin. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍

Tried that feature and it shows your body battery and i can say it really does give numbers on your battery and for the recovery after hitting the gym for almost 2 hours it gave me 8hours recovery time and hit threadmil later that day it added around 5hours recovery

My fiesta garmin watch was the venu 3 45mm and i love it, but the forerunner 965 is bether for my needs.

Anything in particular about the 965 that has been better for you?

Can the Venu 2S get that same watch face as the 3? I mainly use mines to swim and was equally disappointed in the lack of drill mode.
@mlegrand6 ай бұрын
I don’t know if you can get the V3 watch faces. There are a lot of options on Garmin Connect. And it seems so odd to not have drill mode on this device. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍

This is on sale for £379 now. Do you think it's worth a go for that price?

Seems like a good deal. Garmin could always be adding a Venu 4 but I have heard any rumors about that. 🤷🏻♂️ Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍

what is your favourite watch at the moment ?

Tricky call. Probably something with a built in flashlight like the Garmin Enduro 2. I haven't been wearing the Apple Watch Ultra as much lately but that's still a great option also. What about you?
