This toxic positivity in light of chronic pain is extremely damaging. People with chronic pain often slip into depression and anxiety and having someone tell them "just think yourself into the mindset you want to be in" and override how you physically feel is just another reason for someone with chronic pain to feel depressed and anxious when IT DOES NOT WORK. What she is saying is very invalidating of the experience of someone with chronic pain.

As someone with chronic daily migraines, the worst thing I could do for said migraines is to push myself. Rest and time are the only things that'll help 🤷🏻♀️ Not all chronic illnesses are the same, for example I've heard that certain types of arthritis are improved by exercising through the pain, but you should generally only push through your symptoms if it's advised by your medical team

This makes me so mad! That is the worst advice for someone with chronic health limitations. It is so hard to keep going with even every day life - bullying yourself into over doing things when you should be pacing and resting will make you so much worse in the long run. It's a cruel way to treat other people.

It's really unsettling for me how she explicitly is including (her fellow) chronically ill/ chronic pain suffering people in her "tough love". Especially as a person with a disability/ chronic condition, we need to learn how to prioritise and how to pace ourselves. Down the road of "I can override my body with positivity" lies burnout and a worsened condition for many of us. I am disabled & chronically ill, and this whole "you just need to act as if you are healthy, and you will become healthy" mindset is sickeningly pervasive. Many of us end up internalising it, and end up in toxic cycles. I'm still trying to heal from that mindset, myself. I don't want to spend my life going from burnout into "now that I feel good, I need to perform 100%", and right back to burnout. MLM targets people like us, because we are vulnerable, and then heaps on the shame and toxic mindset. Bree is a victim, yes, but she is also a perpetrator, and the toxic productivity mindset she spews will cause damage if not questioned.

When she was trying to force her followers to have a good day, my mind went to a day a couple months ago when we lost our dear dog to cancer. Then she literally said she didn’t care if your dog is sick, just have a good day. What a disgusting self-serving way to stop your downline from feeling normal human emotions, just so they can be in the hustle “mindset” to make you money. Gross.
@G-L-O-R-I-A2 күн бұрын
Also, as a first grade teacher, I can tell you that the scientifically proven method to get your followers (for me my students) to do what you want them to do (learn) is to acknowledge every step in the right direction while nonchalantly correcting missteps. The whole scolding thing doesn’t build relationships or really inspire. Maybe her holier than thou attitude is inspiring some very mentally vulnerable people, but it’s not a sustainable solution.

And gaslighting yourself into believing that you are successful and screwing over other people is totally alright because you are "helping them" in one way or another is just messed up. The mental gymnastics this women is willing to do is astounding.

I pushed through everything too - straight into several nervous breakdowns. Sometimes you feel tired and miserable because you need to rest and deal with your problems. they don't want people to give up because then they have to find other people so they gaslight people by saying this positive rubbish. People leave because they find its hard work trying to find people to join and use the products, You may get a few first try the products, but do they keep buying? The products are expensive. People join then find they are not comfortable selling overpriced stuff and trying to make their friends join. Allow people to change their minds. We all can try something then decide its not for us so don't gaslight us with what we hoped to accomplish at the start. Not everyone wants to be a salesman. Not everyone is comfortable asking people to join and avoid the question how are you doing in the business? What is your success so far? Because people leave it doesn't give you the right to gaslight them on the way out because you need to find someone else for your success

Chronic pain mgt requires you to believe that pushing through pain because it is a learnt response/pain pathway not a sign that you are damaging your body. Sadly I bought into this & in addition to my back/nerve pain I also had ME/CFS where pushing through is dangerous and can cause permanent decline in capacity. Despite successful fusion surgery I got sicker & have been virtually bedbound for 10years. It also took solid 5yrs to get diagnosed. Toxic mentality. Dangerous & exploitative.

You don't have to be a yes mom. It's great to be able to have your kids do activities and support their interests financially, but you need to heal, be future minded, and have rules and boundaries or else no matter how much you make you'll keep feeling that guilt and keep coming to the end of the rope.

Pain is the body's alarm system. If you hurt, damage has been done. Sometimes that damage is acceptable, like a needle piercing skin so you can get a vaccine, or stitches being sore post surgery. Or muscles being sore after a workout. The damage is an inevitable part of achieving a greater good. But unknown pain is a big red flag. Get professional, competent medical help.
