I feel for this guy, and he has so much integrity for telling his story like this. I am just licensed and looking for a reliable agency to work with, if anyone has any information. Or training that would help me run my own business correctly. I applied to work with Peter, but no word back yet... I speak Spanish as well, have years of sales experience. I am scared of being duped like this poor guy was. Very grateful for this video and his testimony, as I was about to sign up with an IMO that sounds very similar to what you all are talking about.

Hi Peter. This is my first time visiting your channel. I subscribed. I first heard about this on David Duford's channel. I feel is badly for this guy. He seems to be in a good spot now having a job with housing. That is how a lot of people do here where I live. They get jobs with housing then they get a day job as well. He could work this to his advantage and get out of the hole. I am hopeful for him. I work for an agent and know it is a blessing for me

I can relate. If you generate your own leads it will save you a ton of money. But if you buy leads from your IMO then you will go "BROKE". Believe me when your clients do not pay their premiums you will have to pay it back . The Heath insurance industry is a much better option. NO PAY BACKS.

The best thing any new life insurance agent should do is to take an Entrepreneurship mini course along with a Digital Marketing Training Course. After this, then you should be able to interview any agency to see what fits best for you.

I keep getting offers from multiple “agencies” that work for Symmetry Financial Group. It definitely seems like a MLM group. You have to buy their leads. They try to hook you in by saying you have no boss and can make your own hours. The “good” leads are like $20 a pop. Has anyone had any experience with symmetry? I didn’t take any of the offers.

I’m in PHP and I personally love it. We have never ONCE bought leads, everything is from references, we have books that we have to read every month, clases where they bring carriers like Foresters, NLG, Mutual of Omaha and they teach us. At first I was gonna quit restaurants and go full time but my mentor stopped me and said to grow it first so what happened to h doesn’t happen. They told me to make the income I want consistently for 4 months before making a jump like that. I feel bad for this guy, terrible mentors.

Most people fail in life insurance sales (or P&C, securities, etc) because of two reasons: 1) They dont know what the hell they are doing when they jump in, and 2) they are underfunded. Basically the same problem 90% of business have. 1 is the main reason. New to the industry and want some advice? Learn what the fuck you are doing on someone else's dime before you start running up cc debt. Get your P&C and L&H license on your own....then go apply for w-2 jobs. There's a ton of them. It wont take long to land one. You can find a large online broker, go with one of those if possible. Why? Because so long as you have your resident license guess what? They will pay for non resident licenses in 50 states. They will train you. Work at one of those places until you make 100k in a year working their leads. Save a bankroll. Build a project 100. Two years later, THEN go out on your own.
@ManoloAnderson-gu6ed

good advice. Do you have any names for companies hiring with W-2 contracts?
@Yaahboi52
@Yaahboi52 4 ай бұрын
I agree. It’s best to be with a company that will pay for you to sell for them instead of going out and buying leads. Very high risk

I agree with you 💯 I am currently getting my license and was contacted by Symmetry but I have to pay for leads. I think I’m going to dodge that bullet. I’m going to look for W-2 companies as well. Do you happen to know any W-2 companies?
@Yaahboi52
@Yaahboi52 3 ай бұрын
@@stephaniehernandez_90 I’d look locally and just start there. Biggest thing is getting the experience & getting through the learning curve of underwriting. I’d learn all of that with a local insurance company that will pay you hourly + commission. Once you’re really good then I’d switch to a 1099 model.
@haraigoshi9133
@haraigoshi9133 3 ай бұрын
@@stephaniehernandez_90 Depends on what you are looking for, TBH, and what kind of training you want to get out of it. If you have an active L&H license, you can pretty much walk into any captive P&C agency (Allstate, State Farm, etc) and they'll hire you. Pros? You will get a small base w/ commission, will have an existing book of business to call and cross sell for life, you will have a diverse set of product lines to sell (WL, UL, Term, Annuity, LTC, etc), and if you do well you can get sponsored for securities licensing (6 & 24). Downside? You will be limited to selling in one state, you will be captive to their paper (so you wont be price competitive), you will not own the financial interest in the book of business (no trails), it will most likely not be remote work from home, and your training will likely be limited. Good way to get your toes in the water, but not a good long term strategy unless you want to work/advance in a corporate environment. If you want to go this route, I'd recommend getting your P&C license as well. You can also go with one of the big brand online/phone agencies (Selectquote, Assurance, Ethos, etc). Pros? They will pay for your licensing in multiple states (10+, minimum), you will get excellent training on telesales (scripting, inflection, etc), multiple carrier appointments, mediocre base (15 or so per hour) and commission, set schedules, work from home, decent to good benefits (health insurance, 401k, etc), and all the leads you can handle. Downside? You will need to be a rocket scientist to fully understand the overcomplicated comp structures, high pressure call center environment, no trails, limited lines to sell (I.E. good chance you will only sell ONE line of business), and they may not be all that quick to release appointments when you leave. Long term, you probably want to be independent. But any of those w2 jobs are a good way to get started, and there are a lot of agents that make really good money just staying there. The main issue with any w2 job is? It's a job, and like any other job you lack flexibility in your work life balance. You cant just wake up one day and decide you want to fly to Hawaii for a couple weeks kinda thing.
