@@MLMariss items in towns don't seem to respawn but you could do a criminal build by exerting in sneak and pick pocketing the enemies on planets and selling the loot to the sublight salvage company ( basically the thieves guild/ dark brotherhood of tow)

Well..there is one flaw in the plan :P IF you pickpocket enemies - when you shoot them, they got no loot so if you are planning to shoot them, there is no point of pick pocketing :D And if you meant pick pocketing everyone (also friendlies) then I've been doing that since ever already :D

If I may add 2 cents on flaws, my current and sadly first playthrough (so far), I have Mantiphobia (I hate bugs IRL), trying for "Smoker" whatever (I smoke IRL), and Compulsive Spender (Again, hate to admit to it tho). I also have the -25% Vendor Price perk. Compulsive Spender and the -25% vender price essentially cancel each other out, but afforded me the Extra Point for Lone Wolf. It was a neat point in the Narrative, and I was thinking, story development with your character essentially being the book, your perks, traits, flaws, the writing within. Narrative, Storytelling, Flaws can really serve as a narrative device. I think they were essentially attempting to make your character develop in a "human" as opposed to "optimum" way. There are Optimums, to be sure, but it's not about that in this instance. It's the narrative you're trying to build about you in the game.

On the subject of flaws, I ate a lot of food early in the game and was offered a flaw that required me to eat food periodically or suffer a debuff. I took it and added a food item to my inhaler. Every now and then I used the inhaler and never suffered the negative affects. It was a good trade. It also means you can influence which flaws are offered to you. For instance once that happened, I tried jumping off ledges and taking damage. I was then offered a flaw concerning heights. I'd suggest taking damage from some animal to get a flaw offered. These flaw are easy to deal with since you can pretty much control animal encounters. Also you can change the UI to show damage as the main item on a card rather than DPS.

This is actually pretty neat strategy with those flaws! :) Thank you for adding this tip to the pile! ;)

Another quick tip about spending a lot of money into tinkering is it might be cheaper to just respec your points and give 100 to science then go tinker your weapons which will set the max amount you have to spend at 200 bits. Then when your done you can go and respec back to what you want and your guns will remain tinkered high. If you havent respec yet it will cost you 500 once then 1000 the next so thats only 1500 which is a lot less then trying to tinker without 100 science
@MLMariss5 жыл бұрын
Yes, this is very good tip and I think for it to take full potential - you would need to do that at level 30..as doing this trick during leveling will end up with really expensive respec :D

Choosing lopsided starting stats results in uneven skill distribution that ultimately mean you’re going to have to invest an additional 15-30 points per grouping to get the whole group to 50, however, as every point under 50 counts as 3, after which point you need to spend those points individually. Looking at the random distribution at 1:43 indicates you’re going to need to spend significantly more to get to the same place.
@MLMariss5 жыл бұрын
You might think that from first glance, BUT keep in mind, there are rare cases where you want to max all sub-skills! For example I would never go for Medical, Sneak..more than it will be with increasing other skills. From Dialog option I see no benefit getting all three again..! So you see..if you want to max all (you don't want to do that :D ) then that statement would be true ;)

Also around 20:22 you say there’s no point giving companions things like armor with + dialogue skills, however if you invest in the Leadership tree if that stat is also your companion’s core stat, they will share that bonus stat with you when they wear it along with their own. For example, if Felix is giving you +50% of his Persuade, then if he wears the top hat, you’ll also get a free +3.5 Persuade, and you can still wear a top hat yourself if you have two of them.
@MLMariss5 жыл бұрын
This is the most criticized point I guess :D And my answers still stands - because Companion points are not transferred with 50% ratio, but with 12.5% (without buff). Just checked the end game 30lvl stats and 80 skill points are converted to 10 points..and long story short - you need +8 points to skill from clothes to get you +1 point (or +2 if you got companion buff), but there is rarely an item that gives THAT much of a skill boost, and remember - we are still talking about 1 point bonus.. :D That's too minor bonus to be considered especially because it always sacrifices armor rating..

Here's another tip I didn't figure out till much later, unload most of your food into storage or sell them to reduce weight especially alien meat. Those small weights will eventually add up when you accumulated a ton of them.
@MLMariss5 жыл бұрын
To add here - meat from animals is especially heavy! For other eatables that weight 0.2-0.3kg, meat you got from behemoths weights 1kg! And yes - this tip goes under the same where I advise to sell...all the consumables. Playing on hard difficulty I have used 1-2 healing items through the full game, and as most of the items give you bonus somewhere AND reduces other stat + their duration is far to low to be viable.. Yeees - sell it all! :D Here I can add small tip - if you will sell items, but don't have the perk for increased selling items (2nd tier perk), then saving all the junk in locker on your ship might be a good idea and then sell when you get the perk :) +20% is +20% ;)

Yes, that's what codex says: They have more durability and are worth more to vendors. But in my example the pristine item is a weapon mod..the item has no durability and it should not impact the weapon durability..doesn't make sense, right? Regarding your armor on companions tip at 20:25, I assumed the extra skills - stealth, dialog, etc. are buff that YOUR character gets as a result of your companions having the armor. This is similar to how having Vicar Max as a companion buffs YOUR dialog skills. So, for example, if they have stealth in their armor, it applies to your character. Is this not the case?
@MLMariss5 жыл бұрын
Yes and no - it was mentioned in comments also and I went back to check it. The results show - if your companion got skill with level 80, then you will get 10 points that skill.. Keeping that mind..8 points transfer to 1 point for you - meaning, that armor you are giving to companion must have at least 8 skill points..to give you 1? And the main problem here is - trade of! IF the armor on 2 items are the same and one has better bonus skill - of course take it! But most cases it's a LOT of armor rating versus half of that and +5 skill points..then in my humble opinion - still armor values higher than 5/8 of 1 skill point :)
@owenzhub5 жыл бұрын
True. Got it!
@Valdore10005 жыл бұрын
@@MLMariss Right but in certain circumstances you might be 1 or 2 points from a desired result (hack, dialog option etc.) and in that case rotating and keeping extra gear also for your companions can be really beneficial if you don't have enough skills available. Just my 5 cents.

The pristine armor mods, even though they have the same stats as non pristine ones, don't they last longer on the armor without needing repairs? I play a sniper build. I start combat from far away. I may give each enemy one shot. Many times that's all my Dead Eye needs, but if not the damage caused weakens enemies a lot and the companions swoop in and finish quickly. After I take my shots, I immediately use my companion skills to eliminate two enemies. It is especially important for mantiqueens. I also prefer to take out those little spitter worms because of their status effects. Also I keep a status effect healer in one of my mixing slots. As you said either select perks that help companions or for you as a lone player. I have never selected lone player perks for any playthroughs. Using companions is one of the highlights of the game. I always select the far right perk of each level as it is specific to companion abilities. The other perks can be simulated by armor and weapon mods.

You are wrong about giving armor that has skill boosts to your companions. Companions give boosts to your skills based off their skills. The higher their skills the higher the boost. If you get inspiration to 60 points this boost is doubled. With this you can get all your skills well over 100 without needing to invest too much beyond 50. Great video though.

Just one thing. If you give your companion an armor that has +5 dialog doesn't it add up with his bonus and adds up to your dialog skill in convos?

So there was this one skill that gives you bonuses from your companions - if you have that, then boosting your companion boosts you too, yes, that's how it should work. ;)

Tip 31 - After you Pickpocket someone, Save and Reload and you will get no penalty. ( be carefull so noone see you do it) 12:09 You started to say something wich is INCORECT. Flaws take out points like -1dexterity -1perception -1temperament (so you loose 3 main stats) if there was like you said i would`ve picked them all. 3 skill points w/e those be for 25% more dmg without companions ... and you dont want that ? As you said (READ THE TEXT BEFORE PICKING) 20:13 Stealth equipment is good on companions when you are trying to pick a lock or hack something, same as Dialog equipment. Keep in mind as you, yourself said we got a limited ammount of points in this game so basically if i have 50 on Dialog skills i can make them idk 100 with companions, also is counted for companion bonuses while in party, for example: Vicar Max gives +10 to Dialog while in party and +10Hacking (adding items with Dialog on him will increase that, same thing with hacking) Other companions give different bonuses. But for your information there is 1 little thing that makes a hell of an impact on this game and that is: Inspiration (60 Adept - Companion Skill Bonus to Player Skills +100%) I play THE CAPTAIN build (Companions kill everything, i have +12 to all my melee and ranged skills) I got 30 to my lockpicking/hack but i can lockpick/hack +60 doors,chests etc. Companion bonuses to said skills help you tremendous. I hope you understand this, because it will make your game so much easier. Actually Good on every stat at the beggining is probably the best way to go +12all. 35:01 your Shock Stick has diamond shape on it. (pay more attention) I dont wat to be a critic, i appreciate what you teach the new Gamers to this game but keep in mind what i said and dont spread false information.

Thanks for the comment! 1) At 12:09 I say exactly the same - I use word 'spend' not lose, that's the only difference. I treat Flaws like a trade: 1 perk point vs 3 skill points. BUT there are also Flaws that don't take skill points, but do some other debuff. 2) 3 skill points traded to get Perk, IMHO is not very good trade as you can get most(all) critical/needed perks anyways by leveling..I mean, this is few extra perks at the end, but to be honest, there are few good perks, then some quality of life perks and a lot of cancelling out perks. 3) Regarding companion equipment - when they got skill up to 80, that skill is given to you by 10 points, 20 with the doubled companion skill points. Which transfers 8 skill points to 1/2, and if you look closely to items - rarely any of them give those 8 needed points to companions, so it can be converted and beneficial to players. That bonus is simply too small to be considered as useful. :) Especially Sneak, where your companions are completely ignored by enemies when sneaking. 4) Yup, companion build is super powerful, I'm going through Supernova myself with such build. 5) Starting with all stats 12 I think will not be better at the end. If you ultimately want all the sub-skills maxed out, then yes, but if there is 1 or 2 skills you want max and they are higher than 12 at the start - you are getting better boost with not having all 12 skills. 6) 35:01 - good eagle eye, BUT trust me - I have seen it..the problem is - I need exact copy of the same item without diamond to make a comparison..and that Shock Stick is not even common item, but some kind of advanced boss drop with that special icon backgrounds, I couldn't use that item to compare and show the difference ;) But nice that you noticed it! No worries here - I'm glad people are paying attention and object my tips, so we can have more tips and ideas out there - as there is rarely only one truth, then we get to know every aspect! :) Thank you and happy hunting ;)

@4:40 that's the only thing I don't like about this game. In other RPG games if your bonuses boost you over a certain base, then that is what you will have as your new base until you take that item off that gave you the boost. In this game, your base still dictates what your perks will be regardless of your boosted bonuses.

I could barely understand what you were saying for some segments example were you saying putting all your attributes at good was a good thing or was focusing them and having some at very high a good thing but overall the quality of your tips were very good so I'm leaving a like on the video
@MLMariss5 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for that and my apologies for failing with clear and simple explanation! :) Let me try one more time: Putting all Attributes Good (all skills will start with 12 and be equal) is not ideal/optimized. Because you will never build /max those skills in the same manner (it's not advisable and game actually pushes you to choose your specializations). So being said that - more beneficial is to pick right away Attributes that will push your chosen skills from the beginning. For example Strength in my opinion and in most of builds will be not needed! And through the game you will 'save' some points if you started the game with your chosen specialty. I hope that explains it - in video it's all shown and proven as well in calculations :)

i just started the game. i skilled heavy weapons and Im always out of ammo. perk point for ammo vendor still kinda waste because it scammes you of your money.
@MLMariss2 жыл бұрын
With heavy weapons it's hard to maximize damager per shot and you'd be more pray'n'spray playstyle I understand (haven't played this style..ever). I would advise to mix melee and ranged combat then where it's possible. Many games have this issue if you opt in ranged damage right away and use it all the time - your shots are not strong enough (yet) and you haven't accumulated as much ammo to have this buffer zone (sometimes you find/get a lot ammo, sometimes you are on killing streak and use them a lot).

Not sure i understand what youre trying to say about the 3 uneven skills are you saying u can only max the highest one?
@MLMariss5 жыл бұрын
The 'bonus' you get when leveling skills up to 50, when you put, for example in Dialog +1 point, you gain +3 in total (+1 Persuade, +1 Lie, +1 Intimidate), right?! But this 'bonus' holds true, only if none of these 3 sub-skills are at 50 points. Which then means, if you have un-even those sub-skill levels, then at one point, on of them will reach 50 level faster, thus leaving you with not 1 input, 3 output result but less :) I dunno how to explain in different words, I feel like I have said exactly the same what in video :D But let me know if you capture the idea ;)
@CHRISTisKing1975 жыл бұрын
@@MLMariss so once a skill gets to 50, one skill point will no longer boost all 3 skills?
@MLMariss5 жыл бұрын
@@CHRISTisKing197 Yup, the one at 50 will stop leveling, so you have to dish more points to the main skill spec OR you can then develop that one skill from 50 upwards, but you will have to spend 1 point to get 1 point :) Take a closer look what happens at 3:50 when I put 2 points in Stealth..I'm not getting 2x3 points in the sub-skills ;)

Edit: didn't work Someone on Reddit said if you put a pristine mod on an item it makes the item pristine or increases its durability. Even then I don't think it's worth it unless it increases the value of the armor/weapon more than the value of the mod. I haven't tested it.
@MLMariss5 жыл бұрын
Oh, nice! At least we tried :D But another pointer I noticed - I had a pristine item and it had increased durability, which is nice, of course, BUT it was not like twice as much or even +50%..it was so little I was disappointed. Normal pistol had durability 1500 and the pristine was 1800 or something like that..a bit too little to be counted as good..then better sell for double the price! :)

You've got some good tips here but overall I do think you tend to beat a subject to death. It's good to be thorough but you could have saved two minutes of video by simply stating "make sure you don't take perks that only work when you're solo and perks that trigger off companions." You basically say that at the end of the section and you could have just skipped 90% of your explanation I think. It's kind of obvious to begin with. Also sometimes you went to give an example you didn't have the item you needed or whatever to give that example. I think if you spend a few extra minutes planning ahead and preparing to do the video you could really improve. I'd also suggest breaking any video up into basically five or six minute chunks and doing more than one take and then splicing the different chunks together. The more streamlined your video is the more people appreciate you not wasting their time with double talk and umms and uhhhs

Thank you for your feedback, highly appreciated! Always a hard thing to manage between giving straight answer and between explaining everything in and out - as the audience also differs. But some valid points there that I'm trying to improve over time, but without huge success yet :D

Lol if we’re gonna make suggestions then I suggest you make your own video for your own fan base, because this video was perfect! Every short video did a bad/lazy job explaining the points system. Specifically clicked on this one because it was long and it did not disappoint. Just started my 1st play thru this week with the PS5 release. Great job making this video!

Some of the advices makes sense but if you really want to become OP, invest in science, shock dmg, science dmg, plasma and cost of tinkering -90%. Science is actually the only thing you need for combat.
@MLMariss5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment! I have follow-up questions/comments on this.. 1) Plasma? Slow moving projectile (compared to any other firing weapon) is annoying as hell..plus there is not a single plasma rifle with DPS even near to heavy machine guns (for example)..will that change with full investment? 2) Tinkering cost reduction gives +3 extra levels (if not maxed already), so it is already proven pretty worthless tier..or what I'm missing here? 3) How is science only thing for combat? Plasma and shock damage is increased, but the same effect can be achieved for other damage types. Or science weapon effect is the one you are aiming for? 4) What do you mean by science damage? Science weapon or different damage type? What am I missing here?
@antet25 жыл бұрын
So, let's play it one way? Sometimes it isn't always about efficency. Some of us like to dick around with different builds. The game isn't difficult. Just a thought. I like Op's insights. Saves me the trouble. ;}
@Valdore10005 жыл бұрын
@@MLMariss Of course it's not the only thing for combat but if you want to be prepared for anything coming your way, just max science and tinker up a heavy machine gun with plasma, it kills everything in 1-2 shots. Rest of the points can go into stealth, dialogue and other stuff. I found combat oriented skills little bit underwhelming but now I am playing on supernova with tactical dilatation sniper but I also found extremely useful to have science/melee with plasma/shock hammer on "kill everybody" mode. Just saying that science is universal combat skill and it might not be that obvious. 4) Science weapon damage of course, that mind control ray could extremely powerful if used properly and extra dmg from perks + tinkering is lot of extra fun.
@Valdore10005 жыл бұрын
@@MLMariss To those other weapons - any weapon modded with plasma magazine automatically benefits from science. It's huge, I think you can hit like 4k+ dps I think. (there is also a helmet with bonus plasma dmg).
