"MLP Tell Your Tale" Better Than Expected??

I am really liking this so far. Look at the effort they are putting into these five minute shorts that only most adult fans will see. I am very confident for Gen 5 has in store. Also I am very eager to see more characterization with Pipp. I think she has a lot of potential and I want to see her get the same love Zipp and Izzy have gotten thus far.

I love how Zipp is a very different character from Rainbow, while being similar enough to remind the fans of her. Zipp is more introverted, stoic, and humble than Rainbow. But she's every bit as capable an athlete. I would love to see more of her science-loving side.

Her behavior also gives merit to the idea that, even though Zipp is the heir to her mother's kingdom (by virtue of being the older sister), she really is not keen on the idea of eventually having to take over ruling Zephyr Heights...

I think the third episode was the best so far, and I do think that the episodes are better than expected. I especially like the bits of character development we get such as Zipp being very camera shy and actively trying to avoid being caught in Pipp's photos. I think it provides some good development that will hopefully be expanded in the 3d specials later on.

I was most worried coming into this that the main cast would be reverted to the main six carbon copies. For example zip she's much like rainbow dash with her flying prowess, not enjoying "girly girl" things, but unlike rainbow she didn't jump at showing off her skills or clamour for all the attention like rainbow dash would and I'm very glad of this. Same with Izzy, she's got similar pinkie pie feelings in quite a few ways, but she's not being crazy for the sake of crazy that pinkie could be, she's merely adapting to a new world and trying to fit in. I'm really enjoying these more mature thoughtful takes even in just the short 5 minute episodes it makes me look forward to the proper longer episodes to come with the main series

Yeah, it makes a lot of sense for a lot of ponies to be new to flying / a lot of pegasi not flying in the air as often or not used to air traffic because of the events of the movie. it's a little thing, but very cool to see!

I really like how these characters are not classified as the mane 6. Like with Izzy. Yeah she is energetic, but she isn't as social like pinkie and made sense as to why she is using other ponies things. Is try and get to know her friends. Zipp is a far cry from Rainbow Dash as she is shying away from the spot light. Yeah I can get into this and see these ponies as their own.

Glad to know you've furthered your opinion on "Tell Your Tale" Doc! i too found Zipp's flight school to be interest especially since there are still a lot of fans out there who are hoping that Zipp will bring the Wonderbolts back! And i also loved seeing Pipp and Zipp and fillies, they were adorable!, as for the nightmare roommate episode i was actually glad that Izzy didn't act as cartoonishly zany as the Pony Life Mane 6 did which proves even further that "Tell Your Tale" is a slight improvement compared to Pony Life since the level of cartoon craziness is toned down.

A lot of people didn't like Pipp in the movie, and I think that has quite a bit to do with how little time the movie gave her to do anything. Hopefully she'll actually get a chance to shine going forward.

I agree, I was pretty skeptical going into it-in fact, I wasn’t planning on watching the series at all!-but I was very pleasantly surprised by the depth they’ve put into the episodes thus far! They actually brought me to tears a couple times! Looking forward to future episodes! 😊

I’ve been really surprised about how they’ve been able to tell pretty compelling stories in just 5 minutes. I’m really enjoying the series so far and can’t wait to see more episodes :) the art style is really growing on me, except some of the characters weird legs, but other than that it’s super cute. The one thing I’m still struggling with is Izzy’s voice actor change, but I’m sure that as we hear her talk more in future episodes it will start to feel better

I initially hate the pony character designs but when I watched the first four episodes of "My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale", It was so awesome, like the whole plot of each episode and the lessons and the values that each episode is trying teach and emphasize. And eventually, I started to become more and more adjusted to the Generation five characters. Let's just hope that MLP Generation Five will live for the next decade! :)

I didn't expect a lot either for the Tell Your Tale series. I thought pretty much the same in that they wouldn't have much story. But I kinda like that they're delving more into the characters. Btw, Baby Zipp is so cute! I think the series is great so far. The voices are great. I've gotten used to all of them except Sunny. I don't know why I'm still hesitating on her voice.

I think this series is way better then pony life in every way! The animation, to the storytelling, and the most of allll, the characters development! I really love this series, and it only makes me want to watch the movie even more! Once it’s on dvd, I’ll definitely give it a watch!🙂

To be honest like Applejack mlp tell your tail is one of the most amazing generation of my little pony ever I wanted to be a brony not just any brony a g5 brony my favorite episode was when sunny and her friends were helping each other with the crystal bright house I hope hasbro will do amazing for this generation and make history for the mlp history and trust me! Honestly, while the bean mouth animation is odd to get around, and Hitch’s character design being… a bit much on the chin, I’m surprised they can show such a range of emotions so fittingly to the situation. Like the face of horror when Izzy uses the toothbrush as an ear scrub. The characters also feel like they have personality, with ups and downs already shown that make them feel dynamic, which is impressive to me at least. All in all, can’t wait to see more, and I’m loving Zip’s more sharp appearance from the rest of the cast. Fits well.

The flight school one was my favorite in terns of story, but I think it was the worst animated. I am biased, I love animating flying cycles, and love watching animations with characters flying around. My least favorite is.the sister send off. I don’t do cringe at all, and I couldn’t get over Zipp clearly being uncomfortable. Plus, It really highlights my least favorite part of Pipp and Queen Haven character.

I tried to get interested in the movie but quit about five minutes in. So when Tell Your Tale showed up in my recommended I didn't think I'd like it but decided to give it a chance, and I'm glad I did. I found Zipp and Pipp's relationship so interesting; whereas G4 showed us a neglected and jealous younger sister overshadowed by a near perfect elder sister, G5 shows us a responsible yet reluctant heir and a younger sister who has found her own way to shine. Izzy in the movie was a little too much for me, almost a kind of unicorn Pinkie clone. In TYT I find her more unique, much closer to her own character.

I really loved Queen Haven in that princess episode. She has so far in the series been shown as a loving mother and caring/protective ruler. Not perfect, but it is clear she cares about all her subjects. I was scared that the characters would lose some of their established personality but so far their movie impact is not ruined. Though Izzy was a little bit too weird for my tastes. Hitch really is being presented as a new element of kindness, and yet he does not feel like a new Fluttershy. Zipp does not feel like a Rainbow dash.

All of the authority figures seen in the movie had obvious flaws, but Haven's seem to have come mostly from vanity (and probably the need to maintain what had become long-standing traditions in Zephyr Heights). It's worth noting that her realm didn't seem to be as bad off as the paranoia seen in the earth ponies or the depression seen in the unicorns...

Note that 3 of the episodes revolves around a character. A Home To Share had Sunny, Zipp's Flight School being Zipp and Nightmare Roommate being Izzy. We might see soon for both Pipp and Hitch.

To me I had low expectations for tell your tail for two reasons. 1:the character redesigns we’re off putting and 2: my pony life wasn’t that enjoyable of a show to me. After watching the first four episodes I really enjoy the show and can’t wait for more. Favorite character is zipp storm and my favorite episode is a tie between the episode where zipp has to teach some Pegasus to fly and the other being the one about Izzy using their stuff and they get mad about it and get Izzy her own things but it turns out she borrowed those items to fit in with the group!!!

Yeah, as it turns out, the Pegasus sisters, who were my least favourite of the mane cast in the movie due to their lack of development, are my favourite characters in this thing, because they've gotten the most development here. I still think we missed a story beat with the ponies apparently deciding off screen to all live together (except maybe Hitch), and TYT definitely feels like a series that should have come after the start of MYM, but...it's not the worst.

I think pony life has a bit to blame on our low expectations of tell your tail. Because pony life was literally just a cartoonishly humors version of the show. Where I think with Taylor their goal is to actually set up where the characters are currently at so that when the show starts we have a better grasp on who each of the characters are. This it's just a wild guess but I'm thinking that the main series they plan to focus more on story and they're using the side series to focus more on the characters

I think theres still a Problem with G5. I have watch the Documentation about MLP today again and I see a similar Problem like G3 had. Next to no real Story in Movie and Shorts, flat Characters if you look on the G4 Castand in the Specials the "Bean-Ponys" act somehow like in Pony Life. But I not understand, why should they live together in an Laser Canon Lighthouse? Why I have the feeling, G5 was made by People who are just Designers, but not Fan of MLP, like it was with Lauren Faust and G4? Personal G5 let me more think at the G4 Episode with Matildas and Crankys Wedding, they feel like BG Ponys. A bit like Lyra, Bonbon and Carrot Top, where we know them from the show, but they have no Deeps. Sunny (who's Name still is for me Sunset Shimmer) and the others have a Movie and 6 Shorts so far, but even the first Episode of Friendship is Magic has tell us more about the Mane 6 as the Main 5 have show us in this 7 Parts of the new Story. Actual I can't identify myself with any of the new Char, they somehow feel like Pony Versions of Social Media Stars. They hav'nt a deep and clear visible Character. For Example, Rainbow Dash is a Tomboy, who like fast Flying, she love the Wonderbolts, has a big Ego and is always there for her Friends. Zip on the other Side feel a bit Grumpy, we not know what she like, except the Turbine in the movie who allowed her to fly, but what she like, what she do all the Day, what is her Job? For me Zip is more a mMix of Spitfire with the Softice Hair of Mrs Cake and I have the feelinh the Creators wanted her to look closer to Rainbow in the Flight School Short (a bit like in the Episode Huricane Fluttershy, where Rainbow was training the Pegassi). I just hope the Quality of the Story will raise, like the first 3 Seasons of G4.

Still on the fence with my honest opinion and love for this show. On one hand, the show is very cute with its moments of charm and humor. It can also really help fill in the blanks for any future G5 movies, or even other shows the MLP franchise has planned. On the other hand, a web series with 5-minute episodes means that the show has to rush to get the point across in every single plot line. To sum it up, the show is wonderful but it does leave itself open for anything else to catch our attention.

One thing that makes me a bit worried about the first episode is the song. It looks like a musical number, but actually the characters are not singing. They're just doing random stuff in the background while disembodied voices sing the song. And the lyrics, melodies and harmonies are super simple and repetitive, and don't match what's happening in the scene for the most part. And the instrumentation is pretty much just a kick drum. If you look at the two times FiM did the same concept (Make This Castle a Home and The Place Where We Belong), it's an entirely different level of production quality. Hopefully they'll do better going forward.

I got use to the voice actors so when go them have different voice so quickly, it didn’t made want to watch. But it was better as I expect it. Also in nightmare roommate, did it basically say that sunny clear her ears with her toothbrush because Izzy was copying them to try fit in with them.

I won't lie... it's ugly, but fun! Bean faces, ridiculous jaws and completely random knee joints can be really off-putting, but if the humor and characters stay fun, that's nothing I can't get used to (backgrounds are decent too).

Concerning Pipp and Zipp, I REALLY think that Pipp should be queen when she grows up. Being queen means getting a lot of attention, which is something that Pipp strives for but that Zipp tries to avoid at all costs.
