I always imagined how it would have went if luna did not come back on the first episode but in the last season and all the other villains mocking Celestia for banishing her whenever they showed up. I can just imagine and instead of just 2 episodes say she comes back and successfully creates eternal night and over the course of the season Celestia and the main 6 work to find a way to undo it and in the final episodes have an epic showdown with Nightmare Moon eventually freeing Princess Luna of her. I think it would have been interesting at the very least if they had delayed her return and foreshadowed it over the course of a few seasons

Yeah. To have Nightmare Moon be more of a villain than just seen in a few episodes. And if the Mane Six discovered HOW she became Nightmare Moon before defeating her, it would have made the series WAY better. But, it's an opinion.

Tbh the show always had a pattern of the first episodes and last episodes of each season having a villain while the rest in between were the goofy adventures and nice lessons

How would it work tho? Sombra is a pony and Tirek is a Centor (I can't spell I apologise-) from Tartarus aka Pony Hell. Also Sombra and Tirek wouldn't know each other well because Sombra was sent back to the void in episode 2 of season 9- and Tirek was turned to stone with Chrysalis and Cozy Glow as the final episode of season 9-
