All the more reason why LAFC failed as Chivas 2.0 bringing overage superstars instead bringing young South American prospects like they did in the beginning with Eddie Segura, Omar Campos, Murillo, Edward Atuesta, Brian Rodriguez, Diego Rossi, among others. It showss because while many MLS teams have world class players, it brings a lot more competition for them to really show off more and more of their skills and talent in an ever-increasing and popular league. Look at Miami with Messi, Alba, Busquets and Suarez and with Toronto FC with Bernandeschi and Insigne, and Galaxy with Puig, Reus, and others in the league. Giroud is a very talented player no doubt coming off scoring 15 plus goals plus remain the starter for AC Milan but in a team like LAFC with a style who is high press, quick in counter attacks and very attack oriented it is a different style for Giroud than AC Milan who like many Italians, play a more solid and slower pace of football/calcio although this is slowly changing in the top tier teams of Serie A as many players became younger and the older players are slowly retiring.

@@DannyFromYT why? He was getting at least 4 million USD in AC Milan. That's a lot more than what most of the other footballers in MLS make. I thought he was there because he love LA and want to experience something different. Plus he is 38 so he can't really just keep as a starter in AC milan when there are many players fighting for his spot. Plus in some MLS teams they are looking for and prioritizing forwards and midfielders which is why many MLS teams have many terrible defenders since its in a league with attack oriented players (in general).

That's the Whitecaps side who massacred Portland. Also, that first goal is a shining example of an AR properly KEEPING THE FLAG DOWN. In other matches the AR has flagged unclear offsides, which forces VAR to have to prove the attacker was ONside, rather than (IMO appropriately) having to prove the attacker was clearly and obviously OFFside. It's better for the game in general to have VAR determine close offsides, not the AR at match speed and not necessarily in position.

That's not really how it works. Under the IFAB VAR Protocols AR's still are required make their determination in real time (delaying the flag if there's a clear goal-scoring opportunity). Professional ARs in top leagues get close calls right well over 90% of the time. VAR takes that to nearly 100%, but preference must be given to the official on the field. This doesn't necessarily apply to semi-automated offside, where the technology is monitoring positions of players and ball 50 times a second, but IMO placement and distortion in camera angles still make VAR best at detecting obvious errors rather than being used by default.

@@johnmcgimpsey1825 The interpretation of "real-time determination" is the issue. ARs are delayed-flagging offsides they can't be certain of, with the fallback that VAR can sort it out. That was the guidance in MLS after VAR was instituted. That guidance seems to have softened, but not always. Keeping the flag down when the AR is not certain there's a clear offside is entirely within the rules and protocols, and it's better for the game.
