For 5.4.1 aren't we supposed to use MEbefore =MEafter because it tells us there's no friction,I'm so confused now

The thing is they gave you the friction in the question When u use the mechanical formula itll be wrong bc i doesn't accommodate forces like Friction or force applied It only accommodates gravitational force in potential energy Hope this helps !

Gauteng 2021 exam paper says force is removed. How does trolley then move up the incline if force is removed? I feel an applied force should have been added opposite to frictional force. Thanks

Remember it’s possible for something to keep moving even when a force is removed… That’s inertia.
