I am assuming that Mushu is a Chow Chow, Simon, Ik you and Talia will, but make sure you TRAIN that dog. Chows are notoriously independent and somewhat aggressive with strangers, as well as not being very good family dogs/with kids. Now, of course every single dog has its own personality, but socialization and training is super important for this breed in particular. Another cool fact is that these Chows, weight ~40lbs, are likely the most ancient breed of domesticated dog, originating in China ~3000 years ago (possibly older). They were used to defend livestock from Asianic Sunbear as well as Wolves, both of which can be ~5x the Chows weight. They are pound for pound some of the most powerful and deadly dogs to exist. Mushu looks like an amazing pup, and I am sure Simon and Talia will do amazing with him, but this info is also good for anyone considering a Chow. The gist of it is that they command respect and enjoy their personal space, so not great with kids or other animals unless socialized extremely well.

Not true. Chows get a bad rap. My chows have all been great family pets. Protective of their family, but then again do you want people trespassing on your property? A golden retriever or Samoyed would greet them willingly

@@firecrystal13 No, they don't get a "bad rap", they are hunting dogs bred to work and protect. But, like I said, every dog has its own individual personality, and that is developed by both genetics and how they're trained and socialized. It sounds like you are a super responsible and loving owner who took time to train and socialize the chow, which is what you HAVE to do with these dogs, and in that case they can be great family pets, but even then some will have a very dominant and independent personality. My point was, being incredibly high-powered and busy people, it might be difficult for Simon and Talia to do this, but I am sure they will hire someone to help. BUT, for regular people, if you are out of the house 12-14 hours a day and can't afford professional training, a Chow is not a dog that is right as it could lead to it being a very unhappy and aggressive dog. There are no "bad" dogs. There are bad owners who neglect the needs of their breed.

Mushu will love you too Simon, he just needs time to adapt to the new place and his new parents. Had a new doggo my self a few months ago, he acted the same as Mushu, always moving from others, looking scared or sad, but got comfortable after a few weeks.

Make sure you feed the dog a lot, train him and walk him. Dogs always latch to one person as puppies but if he starts seeing you do things for him he will see you as co provider and he’ll start loving you both a bit more equally

My guess Simon didn't notice that Mushu started wagging his tail when Simon talked in a higher voice, but as soon as he went back to his normal speaking voice the wagging stopped. So Mushu simply matched the energy.

Make sure you socialize Mushu and spend more time w him. Chowchows are very protective and can be aggressive especially over one person, it’d suck to be afraid of your dog and can’t get close to your girl. I had a buddy who left his gf bc her Chowchow was way too aggressive to him when he’d try to come to her house. Chowchow and Dalmatians are two dogs to socialize and put into puppy school early

What a lovely dog, It’s nice to know I can still smile at this. Unfortunately tomorrow will be my Dog’s last visit to the vets, Rusty will be put down at 9 and a half years of age, cancer got him halfway through his life and it took a toll on him. He’s a Jack Russel so he would’ve lived for quite a while longer if this didn’t happen. But honestly I wish you the happiest years with yours, they’re truly amazing creatures and always make sure to let them know how much they’re loved.
