The best way to defend on FIFA 20 is to just hold down RT and LT if you’re on Xbox or the equivalent buttons on PlayStation and just toggle the left stick to mimic your opponents movements. Also try to play to intercept. Holding down LT will pretty much automate interceptions. Like this so he sees it and can start winning more
