as a Mixed Martial Artist, every form of Combat has a strength and weakness, the Capoeira style, very entertaining to watch, and you have to have amazing endurance to keep moving, but a weakness I DO see that can be exploited, would be a 1 2 takedown, take the legs away and not much out of it (course chances are for the dive for the legs they can sprawl out, or kick you in the face), and then there is Kickboxing, depends on which Variation! since I know of two Muay thai, and Standard.
@buda31713 жыл бұрын
I think your right to a degree, I mean if someone who purely knows Capoeira is put into a sleeper hold they're dead but it's not unusable. Statistically speaking a Capoeiraist's style of kicking on full impact will injure you more than any other style because of the fact that your full body momentum goes into the kick. Also Anderson Silver is well known for doing some Capoeira and you can sometimes see it. I agree though it's not the most effective on it's own but neither is any style really.
@pardolagames89942 жыл бұрын
Capoeira is unpractical and if you're talking about momentum anyone can build it up and do a spin kick, which would open your defense for a well given jab, parry, dodge, or shit like that.

I've finally accepted that it doesn't stand up to other forms of fighting. This is one example. And yeah, maybe he wasn't the best capoeirista but still, too much dancing, not enough violence. Once the opponent can time the capoeirista's rythym, the fight is goign to be over soon.

yo, all you haters this guy is still figuring out how to use his art in the ring, but don't count out the art. capoeria, like taiji and many others, are generally taught for exercise and culture, but there are people out there who can use it very well. I have a sparring partner who uses cap, it works well for him, he can kick from all angles, from the ground, and he avoids attacks with counter kicks you can't see coming. don't bash the art, it's the practitioner.

@Alemazeta Capoeira uses allot of spinning and quickly moving your hands, they're used to help turn your body to send the momentum into the kick or dodge and also used for a few blocks, now if the chain did something unpredictable, such as flipped around to your back, or you didn't compensate correctly for the extra weight it could kill your balance. The feet use mostly momentum, meaning it would just dull the power a bit, they don't maneuver as much, if you can walk you can kick.

I think the main problem with the practical application of capoeira is that yes, it's fighting disguised as dance, but...it's dance. It's designed so that all the moves are telegraphed so that your partner can get safely out of the way. It's full of flashy power moves that have little to no purpose in a true fight. And it's exhausting. You can't dance around with all those big sweeping movements for 15-25 minutes while trying not to get hit in the face and expect not to be tired.
@IyajiLogica14 жыл бұрын

capoeira is a martial art that depends on how much time you put into it and who the person using it is.it can be a really effective martial art if you know how to use it.it can be slow but most of the time it is super fast and secretive.as you say in a "Real Fight" capoeira is for quick precise movements that would put you down in one hit, in this video the fighter obviously did not know how to use the kicks effectively.if you have ever seen a mestre capoeirista get mad it is over in 15 sec!

@Alemazeta Capoeira is often practiced in a ring of people about the size of an arena, maybe smaller. Watching this video over, he has a few moments of actual capoeira but most of this he's just punching, it also looks like he tripped when he went down... Having the hands chained would be worse as they would get tangled on your body. Additionally, if someone could pull off those kicks with a metal chain they could easily catch your neck in the chain and your toast.
@bad4queen13 жыл бұрын
The capoeirista is (out of habit) keeping the "safe"distance to his oponent. Look closely- he's not even near sending a proper kick, 'cause he doesn't get close enugh, as capoeira isn't really about kicking each other's asses, but demonstrating flexibility, strenght and skills. It's more like showing "hey, look what I'd do to you if I really wanted to hurt you".
@tfproductions0114 жыл бұрын
@PhilosoFighter2012 yeah, originally capoeira wasn't made for you to hit the opponent. It started as an Afro-Brazilian dance, and the aim of the game wasn't to beat up your opponent, but to get them off rhythm. But rather understand and learn from it then you will respect it.

It's like a karate guy showing off all his katas during the fight, which would be unecessary.This guy is just probably doing this for show, but in itself moves from capoeira are just as effective as Taekwondo for example. I have seen a few capoeira demonstration in Martial arts tornaments in Brazil and believe me If you dress an experienced capoeira fighter in Taekwondo gi and you tell him not to dance you would think that he is a Taekwondo black belt who's just showing off.

before talking about how capoeira is a dance, to search about it. Capoeira is a martial art, were added by practitioners slaves, whose rhythmic movements, to the practice capoeira were not prohibited, this was one way to camouflage it, Capoeira is considered the fight liberating of slaves!!

Personally I think the biggest mistake of the capoeira guy is that he tried just throwing one kick at a time. I don't even do Capoeira, I do TKD and I've found that no matter what style you use throwing one move at a time is a REALLY good way to lose. You can definitely win a fight with pure capoiera if you're good at it and you actually use combos
