Sir, I have a lovely story to share with you re this Mazurka. You are so right about the love of the Mazurka for Polish people overseas away from Poland, even 18 years ago in this century when I would play this piece in a special needs classroom for extremely disabled students one of the paraprofessionals in the room, from Poland, a survivor of WW2,would suddenly get this joyful expression on his face and suddenly jump up and do these leaps legs forward and fly around the room to all of our delight and disbelief . He was in his very late sixties at the time and the mazurka would seize him emotionally, You understand the culture of the mazurka to the extreme and the way you play it is so brilliant and full of the heart of the mazurka. Thank you so so much for all you do for music. You understand and explain dance and the way music motivates movement. Maestro Claudio Arrau spoke about dance and how musicians should dance. Thank you .

Nice to hear some happy music from Chopin. I think you nailed the rustic, spontaneous unrestrained character of the dance.

Your playing is so joyful here! Very communicative! Fantastic piece of course like only Chopin could create. Could you tell me something about the pedal here please?

It's a tricky question. Chopin wrote longer pedal but his pianos were smaller and sound was shorter, so I personally think it's best to have pedal on for 1 and 2 and immediately after 2nd beat take it off.

Great video! But I think this is No. 2, not No. 3, right?

It depends on the edition. I used the new Ekier edition and it's no. 3 I think I explain it in the video about Mazurka op.33 no.1.

I'm watching all your videos about Chopin Mazurkas and I just love them all. I plan to watch them a few times. It's a great joy to hear both you playing the Mazurkas and your explanations of them which are very imaginable, emotional, interesting and can be very helpful to people who would like to learn to play Mazurkas to understand them better and to develop even more love for them. I compose a little for piano and I made a piece in a dance style, not a Polish folk I think because I live a lot southern of Poland but I hope it can be enjoyable. I don't think Chopin played that fast.Remeber people in those days didnt have recording as u said, and so how would they understand the music that lasted a couple minutes.Everyone in the early 19 century played in fact very much slowly than today. The metronome error has caused people to thinking that it's as fast as plane instead of a horse. Great video anyways.

@@gregniemczuk Sorry - didn't mean to criticise: your presentation in English is marvellous (but best to switch the automatic subtitle generator off, you're so good!!). What's the difference between a 'Polish Folk scale' and a classical scale? is what I'm after...😀
