I've been a bit critical about Ariel personally of late, but this really was a masterful interview by Helwani. With Arnold Allen you literally get back from him what you give. He matches the energy of others so perfectly, you give a half arsed interview asking superficial, generic questions ... Allen will feed you "yes" "no" "Ipswich" "opposition name" and nothing else. But you interview him like this and you get a near hour long conversation that couldn't show Allen's personally better. Ariel has done a lot to help non-British fans get to know and understand people like Allen, Leon etc who don't naturally translate to other audiences by themselves

Max's output wasn't high because of Arnold's shutting down and cutting off a lot of his game. You could see that Arnold had a chance at finishing that fight but Max rarely finishes. I have no doubt Allen will be back. Definitely one of the most exciting fighters out there

Arnold, you should absolutely in no way feel as though you let yourself down. Here’s why: you never had any real chance of winning that fight. Not unless you caught Max on a bad night which he was not going to have after his humbling loss to Volk at 276. Max is elite. He’s not the best FW that’s clear. But he’s as close to a current champ as you can get. His resume is ridiculous. The amount of high level fighters, legends and future HOF’s he’s fought towered over your repertoire and winning streak. I take nothing away from you. You’re extremely talented and fought a great fight. Had some amazing moments there where you cracked him good. But don’t look at this as a let down. Be proud for the rounds you won. This is how you get better. God bless!
