Not only did it teach the defence, it helped me better understand the buggy choke. Thanks.

I haven't had to defend this choke against someone who is legitimately good at it, but against the couple who have tried it against me, cross-facing and stacking the bottom guy worked pretty well. That said, your defenses seem much more sound. Thank you, professor.

I haven't had to defend against black belts using this choke but the blue belt and purple belt who tried this on me, I took out my cross face arm from around the head like you did, but I put my wrist and forearm into their throat while gripping their shoulder (this was no-gi) and they released the choke. I like the early prevention a lot. Turning it into an arm triangle attempt makes good sense.

My friend, I was capeble to defend my self on competition with this kind of logical thinking. I was competinig with much more stronger and heavier oponent in absolute division and i did that. Now i whatched this video and i'm so proud of my self because i had that logical thinking before i even watched this video. I wanted to shere this with you, good luck, and I wish you all the best. Thanks.

Von Flue counter works well against the Buggy Choke. Check out Silver Fox's KZbin channel for his explanation on it.
@MMALeech3 жыл бұрын
It can work, especially if you are about the same height. If the person on the bottom is taller than you then you might not be able to drive your shoulder to his neck effectively.
@zazen693 жыл бұрын
@@MMALeech It looked very effective as long as you have your arm free to wrap around the head and under the shoulder blade. Silver Fox Pravec demonstrated it on a taller bigger person with great effect with the Buggy choke fully locked on. Your detail of pushing the head forward is great also.

@@zazen69 You have zero understanding of the Kinetic Chain.
@zazen693 жыл бұрын
@@jiujudo1307 The kinetic chain is just how different parts of the body are connected and how they interact in relation to each other. There is debate if the Kinetic chain is even that relevant since not all parts of the body (chain) are equally important. It's hardly a secret in grappling. I was more referring to Kinetic Linkage which is much more relevant to striking.

Can a Von flue counter work against the Buggy choke?
@mreitmann2 жыл бұрын
That's what I have always used to defend it.
@rickb_NYC3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this. I have never seen this choke before. I'm sure it is a surprise to many people now. But it is easy to see it coming, the defenses you suggest seem strong, and the person doing it faces the risk of an arm triangle set up, so do you think in a year or two, people will stop using it?
@MMALeech3 жыл бұрын
I think it's one of those moves that doesn't really hurt if you try it, since you are already in a bad position (bottom side control), it might scare some people off which could help escape side control 🤷

A guy at my gym would always do the buggy choke. I never got roll with him. Before he left. I feel it a good choke. But you have be in a bad position to get it. I think people learn how to escape side control and then the buggy choke. I don’t think i am that flexible yet

Just curious. Will many recreational players really be caught in this? Don't you have to be crazy flexible to get it on?
@MMALeech3 жыл бұрын
It's been done at the highest level, PJ Barch was caught in a tournament, there's also a rolling footage of Josh Hinger getting caught by it, so you don't need to be a recreational player to be caught by the Buggy. Regarding flexibility, you don't need to be crazy flexible, I'm not that flexible and am still able to do it
