‘tu’ is an accepted romanisation of つ just as much as ‘tsu’ is! it’s from the kunrei-shiki romanisation system, where characters such as つ、し、じ、じゃ、ち (there’s probably more) are written as tu, si, zi, zya, ti the most commonly used one is called hepburn, which is what more japanese is romanised using
