I think that the scale of the birds adds a whimsical charm to the spread, they are so sweet! I honestly never imagined fingerpainting a background or that it could look so nice. I recently was clearing out a box of random junk of my mother's and found a rubber replacement tip for a cane that I saved out thinking it would make a great background stamp as it has a solid cirlce in middle with a wide ring around it and this would givev me the perfect wxcuse for trying it out....I love using random stuff for stamping, lol! What would you recommend using instead of shelf liner since I don't want to buy a whole role of it just to have a little piece for art?

Hi Catherine - you could use a rubber stamp, use ink or paint through a small area of a stencil (also drywall tape could be used like a stencil), small bubble wrap - any type of household item that has a small pattern. Happy layering! 😊
