I took advantage of a few free days I had and went to visit my friends in northern Minnesota and had a blast doing it. I am doing this new vlog-style thing. I hope you like it.
We camp and hike in and around the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, we often travel, and we’re also building and enjoying an off- grid cabin in the woods and we love sharing the journey with you!
Thank you for supporting our channel :) :)

Those late, late summer and early to mid fall trips are awesome. Kids are back in school. Most people (the general masses) are in prep for winter mode and aren't even thinking about camping anymore. So you get out there and no one is around. It's awesome. I used to hate fall. Mostly because, to me it's just kind of a harbinger that winter is coming quickly and I am NOT a winter person. Even as a native Minnesotan, I can't stand winter. Just not a cold & snow kinda dude. But, I've really come to appreciate fall due to what I mentioned. And a lot of nostalgia from my days as a kid in the Boy Scouts. Very active troop that did a ton of camping all through fall. Even sometimes in the winter. That all comes to a crashing halt when we get that first snow though. 😄

I agree, fall is the best camping and hiking time of the year. It's beautiful, less buggy, fewer people, and cooler temps.

The full moon was actually really cool. I didn't sleep much but it was light enough to walk around without a light the entire night. If I wouldn't have been alone it would have been cool to venture down to the water and sit on the beach that night.

I think it’s so important to listen to your gut…you do a lot of things on your own and something was telling you not to go. Good job for paying attention to your inner voice. I do a lot of solo stuff as well and sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between my head and gut. My head is always saying “everything is scary stay home!” Thank you for sharing your adventures! I went into the BWCAW with my 19 year old son this year just the 2 of us. It was amazing. Watching your videos and seeing you doing it alone made me realize I can do it 2! So thanks again!

Where was that spot you camped at by Lake Superior. I'm trying to figure it out but coming up empty. Was that in a state park?

Do you remember when the Onion River was just a pullover and a rock scramble initial climb to the trail? You may want to do the 270-degree overlook. Only a mile to it, and it's well traveled. I recently did the trail between there and Otter Lake using my bicycle to shuttle myself.

I will check that one out. I don't think I've been to the 270 overlook. Thanks for the tip!

Not trying to be weird at all, but Jodi you are beautiful and I love your spirit you bring and your passion for camping. I've been to the BWCA a handful of times and its a unique experience for anyone who hasn't been up there. You display it perfectly. You are so fearless and embrace the challenge it takes to be there. Massive respect to you and I love your videos!

have you ever had to deal with a bear or moose when alone i was just there two weeks ago and had to deal with a bear just north of two harbors

Yes I’ve had to deal with both bear and moose alone. Both made my heart beat fast and both were intimidating in the moment. But they usually just run away. How was your experience?

Did anyone hear the story about an unprepared, solo hiker who didn't fully plan, and then something bad happened? Thanks to Jodi, neither did any of us!!!!!
