I had the pleasure of seeing Bobby Vee on a uk concert a few years ago . The stage door after was besieged with fans including myself . Everyone was told he’d left through the front . And they all went running , but me !!! Sure enough he came out of the stage door and I got my autograph 😂😂😂

"The Night Has a 1000 Eyes," is my all time favorite Bobby Vee song. The lyrics are almost haunting but the melody is pure 60's pop music!

he was one of the very best.....he was sort of a protege of Buddy Holly....when Holly died in the plan crash in Iowa, in 59, Vee was playing with a band in Fargo ND.... near the planned next venue in Minnesota, for the tour group Holly was with, before he died. Vee and his group was asked to help fill in as the promoters went ahead with the show, as a tribute to the dead stars. That, according to Vee, is where he got his big break and thus went on to be a skuper star in the 60s.... I have an original 60s album which he re corded with the Crickets, dong all Holly songs...its a wonderful album. The story of his connection to Holly is narriated inside the album and I have remembered this over all the years. Holly, and others became my inspiration to take up the quitar later, and spent my high school years and many thereafter, playing old time rock and roll and country music. We even got to front for Crystal Gayle once, played on the Teen Jamboree 64 with Bobby Bare and Johnny Tilliston, and even got meet and talk personally with John Lennon in 64. I think that, listining to that Bobby Vee album over and over, led me into playing music and many many great opportunities and memories.

Bobby Vee sounds a bit like Buddy Holly as well. The aircraft crash definitely did NOT kill the music. I believe it had the opposite effect and made kids start listening to Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, Dion and the Belmonts and the Big Bopper. The Beatles' Ed Sullivan Show and the tragedy of the Winter Dance Party, aircraft crash have created more musicians than any other events. By the way, what was John Lennon like?
@edwiles52585 ай бұрын
Yes, you nailed it. It was not the day the music died, but very possibly the day it was reborn. Vee made an tribute album to Buddy in the early 60s and I still have the original i bought as he recorded it with Holly;s band, the Crickets and did a lot of those famous songs. You can hear it on the tube by going to Bobby Vee and the Crickets.
