I was born and raised on bluegrass. My dad and a few of his friends (who despite the huge age difference and lack of common interests outside of pickin' became my friends too) would pick until 2am on any given night. When I was 13 I picked up an electric bass and learned by ear. I taught myself by playing along to all of my Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Led zeppelin Albums and then all of my Dad's Bluegrass, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Jerry Reed records, 8-Tracks and tapes...then CD's as time and technology went on. Dad came back from a Bluegrass fest' that year with an Upright Bass for me and in no time at all, the four of us were a band. It was always fun being the "Kid in the black Iron Maiden T-shirt" whenever we played somewhere. My Dad recently passed away...I'm now 42 years old. I have his 1902 Gibson 5-string (converted from a 4 string) Banjo and a box full of old recordings of us jamming together. I miss the living room pickin' sessions like you showed here. It brought back so many memories for me. I'm glad that people are still keeping Bluegrass and family time alive like that. thank you SO MUCH for posting this. I enjoyed playing along and thinking of my dad and remembering when we played this same song. It was one of my favorites too.
