The King's Speech has put a new spotlight on Stuttering. But man has been stuttering ever since he's been speaking. Why do you think Moses had Aaron speak for him?

There are so many famous people who are such great role models for kids with stutters. Personally, I deal with a lisp and knowing there are people out there who live with and have conquered speech "impediments" is really reassuring. This was a FANTASTIC piece.

Nicole Valentino I don't stutter unless I am so cold my teeth are chattering. But I do have slurred speech. I get sooo tired of being told, It's pick up STICKS, not pick up "ticks"! You don't eat a peach at speech therapy! Speech, not peach! I didn't say dat and neither did you! It's that, not dat! This and that, not dis and dat! I got really, really, really self-conscious at speech therapy because of having to repeat individual sounds (I think they're called phonemes). The phoneme stuff ("tuff") made me uncomfortable because I am sensory defensive. So I said May I please read a "tory" (a story) instead? Not that I don't think enunciation is important, but I hate the phoneme "tuff" (stuff). Pronouncing complete words would have made speech therapy more comfortable for me. That is why I still have issues with enunciation. Happy upcoming first day of "pring"(spring). Tongue-tiedly, "Forest Green Organ Geek" Post "cript" (script) Henry Higgins would rake me over the coals like he did to Eliza. I am so glad he's a fictional character. My speech therapists were kind and understanding. But "till" (still), I hate pronouncing phonemes. "Buh...buh" yourself, Ms. Therapist! Phonemes irritate the heck out of my ears.(I should have said that.) Any other sensory defensives who dislike enunciating phonemes? I would like to know.

It feels like someone grabs you by the throat a d whenever you try to talk they squeeze afterr I conversation I'm exhausted I feel your pain guys I don't know why God made us bare this burden but we become more caring and less judgmental people because of it keep fighting guys (19 year old guy

ok i have a stutter but i dont have a mini spaz when i do it..... i used to say like all the time but i grew out of it without going to no dumb speech classes

Keahi Abreu I don't stutter (unless it's so cold my teeth chatter). My speech is slurred. But I hate speech therapy because i hate enunciating phonemes. (repeating single letters. "Buh. Cuh. Guh. et cetera) It's so doggone Ir. Ri. Tat. Ing! Irritating!... to enunciate phonemes. My mum doesn't believe me that it irritates me. WHY, MUM? IT REALLY DOES! I don't stutter or lisp but have the dickens of a time with enunciation. If people would believe " dat" I mean "dis" from "de" bottom of my heart about hating enunciating phonemes at "peach terapy", it would be a relief.

i stutter, always have. it's not bad though. when it starts, i just stop speaking and start over.
