Almost like a limiting strap but a metal link going from the chassis to the the axle a single stablizer link to keep centered. cutting holes in the foams with dowel cutters would make the foams softer. The more holes the softer they will get. (Dowel cutters work so much better than drill bits on foam)
@Hwy49RC Жыл бұрын
Dowel cutters.... never heard of them. Just did a google and that is a peculiar-looking but intriguing tool, I will have to see if I can find one to try

Rig both looks and sounds sick! I saw some good lines in there! If this was a shakedown run, I think it did exactly as designed. Now for the fine tuning. That's what it's all about! Venting the tires might help. I usually recommend venting the wheel and doing a few holes with a smaller bit, so you can tape over them and control the flow. I got into a discussion with a couple of people about closed cell foam. Venting the tires works better if you have closed cell foams. If not, and you're willing to experiment, drilling holes in the inner ring works very well. And, like I mentioned, you can control the flow with tape over the holes, etc. Tires are a bit more of a commitment, for sure. Definitely cutting the foams would help. I put 1-2CM slices in all the way around on my front Bully II foam and it helped the grappling a lot. Night and day, in fact. I also recommend shaving the inside of the sidewalls down a little, or sanding them, one or the other. Also, shortening the wheelbase sounds like a solid plan. Do that, for sure. That will definitely help with breakovers. Have you checked out RC4WD's angled rod ends? I think they're either 20mm or 25mm. It may help be able to offset with spacers if you're looking to triangulate the lowers more off the axle mounts to stabilize some of that play. also, rubber o-rings on one side of the rod ends might quiet some of it down, too. Both sides may even slow down some of your unexpected/unwanted unloading when side-hilling. Anyway, I'm just sharing some ideas you've probably already had!

Thanks for all the ideas! I will keep them in mind

Nice build 💯 I'd take out the foams and double stuff the tires with another tire that's at least half inch smaller OD it adds extra balance weight to the wheels I've done it to my 2.2 Wraith running on Rc4wdSwampers XL
@Hwy49RC Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Oh interesting idea, never heard of double stuffing before. I took some blades to the foams in the most recent episode and it seriously helped

@@Hwy49RC I learned the trick from watching full size rig's. Some of the comp buggys fill the tires with water for added weight.

shit color me impressed! this is like a whole new level of crawler, a class all on its own! its capabilities definitely outweigh its inabilities. one thing i do to my tires that has given me muuuuch better bite is i cut every other tread knob off which I'm sure you can imagine the extra space gives that extra room for the remaining knobs to bite with, give it a shot!
@Hwy49RC Жыл бұрын
It is indeed pretty wild, I could definitely cut lugs if I need more traction after modding the foams
@pthrelkeld090 Жыл бұрын
Yea, and it's kind of hard to basically destroy tires that aren't all that cheap.. legit almost as much as what I pay for my real car 😅 but I immediately started making it up lines I hadn't been able to pre-mod

Was so cool seeing you at ASD (I was the guy in a white shirt lol [Tyler, btw]). Would love to see that thing kill lines at Knight's Ferry some time. Anyway, that is a pretty sick line killer of a rig, Erika, that monster can definitely flex like it's nobody's business. Lol

The floppy ends is a byproduct of lack of triangulation-- the upper links are nearly parallel to one another from what I can see. But I wouldn't even worry about adjusting that until the inserts in the tires get sorted out. Whatever is in there now is doing you absolutely no favors.

@raven5347 Жыл бұрын
There's to much travel. You need to limit that. Put a spacer in the shock or outsied depending on what you want to limiy. keep it up
@Hwy49RC Жыл бұрын
Yeah I would agree that it is a bit much at times. When I shorten the front links it will put the shocks more upright and reduce the amount of axle articulation. We'll see where I'm at after that and go from there.
