I had a new 15 unlimited and 5 other new Jeeps in my life so I'm no Jeep hater but. I went through all this stuff back in 08 on a 50 inch RZR like it was potholes. Braap, braap, braap. We covered this in seconds. You gotta have the right tool for the job. Before you all say it was about the narrow, we did the same a couple years later on a 900 that I think is about 67 inches. All without all that horrible metal scraping drama. The only problem we had was the Jeeps blocking the way in all the fun places.

I was wondering how they hydro-locked but now I get it- because of the severe angle, oil was able to flood the valve cover on the PCV side, and it sucked oil into the intake manifold and ultimately into the cylinder . So I guess the key is to unplug the PCV and plug it it off with a bolt before attempting these severe maneuvers :-)

Nice filming... too bad the spotter/spotters wasn't/weren't up to the same standards. In more than one place a few Jeeps followed great lines with no issues so by then the spotters should have been able to identify the best line for the following Jeeps, but he/they didn't. My guess would be possibly because the spotter giving directions was off to the driver side instead of from the video point-of-view, from which sometimes 10 feet ahead of time I could already see a Jeep was in trouble. A few examples: At 36:32... if a spotter said "Passenger" at that moment the Jeep wouldn't have slid down. Instead, it ended up requiring the winch out. At 42:10 the direction to the driver again should have been "Passenger". Since that wasn't the case, the next error at 42:38 made it even worse. Then from 43:06 to 43:22 the passenger tire should have been a foot farther up the wall... where the rubber marks are from the previous "successful" climbs. And the result for the red Jeep? A lot of smoke and knocking... a very unnecessary consequence to the poor spotting. Also I agree with McKinney Farms... whether steel or synthetic, nobody should be within 10 feet to either side of the cable from either end, and there should have been a weight bag on the line to drop the line if it broke. There is more than one video on YT showing a cable going through the windshield, one in which the driver was killed. In my opinion, there can never be enough to be said for safety. Every group should have a designated "guardian angel/safety dude" to provide over-watch of any recovery scenario... not to be the one "in charge" but the one to take in the wide-angle view to make sure other folks in the area are paying attention and/or are out of harms way. Just my 2 cents...

What a collection of dangerous and foolhardy behaviors with the yellow jeep: No spotters to help him, apparently no instructions before the obstacle about the line to take for this rookie, no reminders to turn off the motor if he tips, only one guy goes down to help him, the first time the cable was placed by the jeep up above it had to be at the worst possible angle (why not go to the far right of the up slope?), all these guys standing next to a cable with tension on it, the same guys standing downhill of the jeep, and on and on. A fun day could have turned deadly really quickly. Morons. Who is in charge?

Though I am not a jeep fanatic, occasionally I drop into these vids to see what the fuss is about. Now I know. Moab can keep the Jeep fanatics. Well over 20 + people around, spotters are poor. The winching times are dangerous and poorly supervised. 1st Jeep shown, you have a guy that goes down and thinks he is Hercules or some dumb chit and attempts to try pushing it back upright? Give me a break. This is not a hindsight situation. 20+ people around there and nobody thinks about putting something over that cable so that IF it should snap, it won't be flying towards anyone? Not to mention the people standing and sitting to the sides of the lines as the pulls are going on? Geeza people. The fun ends when people are severely injured or killed. ;) Try taking some safety courses before venturing out to nowhere.
