That’s not true james, as an addict recovering myself. They need the diversion program or there gonna keep offending and keep commiting crimes to support there habbit. Its the judge job to nip it in the but right away and send then to rehab no matter how many times they relapse until they get it right. This varies of course from person to person. They dont need to be treated different or leniently but they for sure need to placed in a program first so i beg to differ, we cant know better its a disease that needs to be treated its not about gangbanging selling rocks on the block where addicts not pushers some of us steal and rob burglurise to support a habbit. Now just the other day he has a sezuire while driving and crashed while the police was tryna pull him over and they thought he was running and beat his ass. The seizure was insetted by withdrawal from alcholol detox. Had he got help sooner by the judge and thrown into a rehab he wouldn’t have ended up in icu in a coma and now facing felounious charges and that wouldnt have happened. He coulda crashed into somone and killed them too
