When they were arrested for whatever is it they did, Gotti wanted Sammy to take the blame for whatever it is they were being charged with. All of the blame he wanted Sammy to be the sacrificial lamb for the family and Sammy wasn’t with it so he flipped and gave them John Gotti

Sammy was out before but because he cooperated and really helped bring down the entire mob … he got a HUGELY reduced sentence. Then him, Karen and Karen’s brother were indicted on trafficking and selling drugs and Sammy the Bull took the wrap for all of them so his kids wouldn’t do jail time but because he took the wrap, he got 22 years. So that’s where the 22 years comes from I believe .

Ok let me break it down cause this is my favorite family besides my boy from Philly Nicodemo Scarfo. 1. Carlo Gambino screwed up when he made Castellano boss before he died. Dellacroce who was Gotti's mentor should have been boss. 2, Gotti out here reckless selling drugs and other things so in Mafia you arent supposed to sell drugs brings too much heat. 3. Castellano is now boss but a dummy cause the police wire tapped his house and so he caught up too a whole ass mess. 4. Gotti thinks Castellano is going to kill him but honestly Gotti wants to be boss, problem is you arent supposed to kill a boss without permission from the commission. ( Which is actually 7 families but thats another subject) 5. Gotti and Sammy set up Castellano at Sparks steak house in New York 6. Now Vincente the Chin he is the boss of the Genovese Family wanted to kill Gotti for it and actually tried a few times but obviously didnt get him. 7. Gotti takes over Gambino family and its good until he forgets about how to stay lowkey his mistake is he loved the fame too much and well he got caught on tape talking about everyone and the feds brought to Sammy, 8. Sammy seen or felt that Gotti was going to use him to get off, cause there is a lot of tape that hasnt been released on what Gotti said. 9. Sammy flipped had to admit to all of his murders 19 in total but we all know there are more then that, hell he killed his brother in law and went to funeral like he didnt do. So all in all The Mafia changed alot from the old country they colonized and started flipping on each other worried more about money, fame, etc instead of what the family stand for. Sorry I can go all day with this its way more detailed then this but i say watch some documentaries that have the actual people involved not any white washed version and you have to start from the old country then america's mafia.
