Mobb Deep, Black Moon, Wu, Nas, AZ, etc. That blunted style of New York rap era will never die. Shit just isn't the same anymore.
@N1GHTWOLF18 жыл бұрын
Don't look at it with that pessimistic viewpoint man. Just try and see the adaptation of hip hop throughout the ages. Before in NY, we had Nas, Wu Tang, BIG, Mobb Deep, etc. and now we have The Underachievers, Flatbush Zombies, Joey Bada$$ and Pro Era, and ASAP Mob.

In my opinion they are the best rap duo out of the 90s, I also think their album The Infamous was the best rap album out of the 90s. I know not everyone thinks, this but being from New York I just think they stay true to NYC. Every track on "The Infamous" is a rap symphony something that the rappers of today can never recreate.

+Mitko SpongebobXD People can criticize the content of this song all they want, but you have to admit this shit captured a certain culture that most people don't get to see. The straight up nyc grittiness was portrayed to the fullest here. Now-a-days ,hip hop has lost a lot of it's culture because money has flooded the market. It's pop now plain and simple.It used to be rappers would work on their craft and carry hip hop on their back. Rappers are now manufactured , image has become more important than skill . So fck ur friends, let em know that this shit here is culture baby. The reason it doesn't resonate with them is because there minds are closed off.

nahh this song is what started the beef...prodigy's man just came home from jail when this was released he claims the man was saying ''thug life we still livin it tho'' pac seen that and that is when the beef evolved. because he doesnt like nobody saying thug life except him or his outlaw members...
@only1drewskiii11 жыл бұрын
it's not possibly nothing bro pac was strictly about respect his gangsta and he meant every word... this song is part of the beef. prodigy explains it if you look it up
@only1drewskiii11 жыл бұрын
This beef started when Tha Dogg Pound released New York, New York. Mobb Deep took offense to that and with Tragedy and Capone N Noreaga (two other NYC artists) they released LA, LA. There were 2 versions and one version used that same beat and in both versions the chorus was the same as from NY, NY except for a little change at the end. Now Tupac took offense to that and that's why he dissed Mobb Deep. The only thing I know Mobb Deep to have said before Tupac released Hit 'Em Up was in an article from RapSheet when they were discussing the East/West Coast beef with artists from both sides Mobb Deep said the way Tupac turned on NY was wrong and said they would buy a Snoop album but they would never buy another Tupac album. I think Havoc might have said this. Also, in the "Thug Immortal" interview, Tupac described why he didn't like Mobb Deep. He said that before he went to prison, he was cool with them. Then when his West Coast crew came to NY to Mobb Deep's concert, Mobb Deep ignored them. He said his crew tried to meet up with them after the show yelling "Thug Life", but they dissed them. What made Tupac even madder was that one of the guards he knew in prison also knew Mobb Deep, so after Tupac told the guy to tell Mobb Deep that his boys were coming, he took it as an insult when they dissed them. Then Tupac came out with Hit 'Em Up...called Prodigy out about his sickle cell anemia and that's when Mobb Deep responded with Drop A Gem On 'Em which appeared on their new album. Since Tupac's death, Mobb Deep has shown a lot of respect for him though.
